BlackBerry 9630 will be Niagara, the new Verizon World Edition BlackBerry

blackberryniagara

This one has me excited because I’ve always been a fan of my 8830 World Edition even though its been replaced by several newer models. Boy Genius got new details about the rumored BlackBerry Niagara, which in the past was rumored to be called Bold 9030 or 8930. Well it’s not going to be either according to one of BGR’s sources, the BlackBerry code-named Niagara will be modeled 9630 and seems it will pack tons of stuff except Wi-Fi. The Niagara is gurentueed to be a World Edition BlackBerry featuring CDMA EV-DO with Rev. A, Quad-band GSM with EDGE for roaming, 3.2 megapixel camera (with possibly a camera-less model), and OS 4.7.1 (maybe even 5.0 depending on the release date). Also the browser should be a little more updated to support Javescript 1.6 (that’s a little better)… As for a release date the source could not confirm that but with any luck at all you will see it around May or June on Verizon and possibly a few others? ;-)

VZW delays shipments of BlackBerry Storm until December

UPDATE: It looks like Verizon has even further delayed the shipments now. If you visit the order page it shows “Due to limited availability of the BlackBerry® Storm™ 9530 smartphone, orders will ship by 12/15.” That’s sad news for people dying to get their hands on a Storm. Stay tuned for any updates.

Looks like Verizon had a very busy launch day. In fact they didn’t have nearly enough Storm’s on hand. Apparently RIM had some last minute OS issues which they had to sort out. If you check out Verizon’s online store you will see that new orders for the Storm aren’t shipping until December 5, 2008. That is a long wait but unfortantly nothing you can do about it for now. If you need proof check out verizonwireless.com.

How many people out there today got their hands on a Storm?

Great hands-on video of VZW BlackBerry Storm

Another week, Another BlackBerry Storm video. This time some lucky person got a change to sit down with a Verizon branded BlackBerry Storm 9530 and do everything to it. The video shows how to take out the battery and use the phone. It’s just another video in the BlackBerry Storm collection. The good news is Verizon customers only have to wait a few more days before they get their hands on one of these bad boys! Enjoy.
