I just noticed someone on CB Forums posted images of the BlackBerry Storm 9500 in 360 degree views. Doesn’t this just make you want the BlackBerry Storm even more? Rumor has it that RIM, Verizon and Vodafone will be announcing the Storm in New York on October 9th.. Read More
Kevin Bryne from CrackBerry Forums seems to have all the right info regarding the BlackBerry Storm and Verizon. Here are some new screen shots showing off the Storm’s touch screen controls, Suretype mode and homescreen icons. One thing you will notice is that you will be able to adjust the Tap Interval, Hover Period and Swipe Sensitivity for the touch screen.
Anyone remember the BlackBerry Niagara? It was suppose to be following “Javelin” as a CDMA verison for Verizon for sometime next year. My question is what ever happened to this device? It seems with all the Storm, Javelin and Pearl Flip news lately this one may have slipped under the radar. Read More
AT&T must be feeling a little heat from Verizon’s announcement of the first touch screen BlackBerry “Storm”. AT&T has released an internal document that outlines what the iPhone does that the Storm doesn’t. Here’s why they say the iPhone is so much better than the Storm:
- The iPhone uses multi-touch technology / Storm uses haptic feedback technology
- iPhone was Wi-Fi / Storm doesn’t
- iPhone has an app store / Storm doesn’t (maybe coming soon?)
- iPhone syncs with iTunes / Storm will be able too but not as well?
- iPhone users Safari for browsing / Storm uses RIM’s browser
- iPhone is GSM/3G / Storm is CDMA/GSM/Dual band HSDPA
Where should I start with this article posted today by the Globe and Mail…
The article published in Today’s paper talks about RIM’s new Pearl Flip as a game changer for the North American market. Then they started talking about RIM’s upcoming first touch screen BlackBerry. According to the Globe and Mail RIM will release the BlackBerry Thunder and also a “a second device which features both a touch-screen interface as well as a slide-out QWERTY keypad [...] known as Storm” anyone else think thats weird? We do know that RIM filed a patent a long time ago for a slide-out keyboard, however the Storm will NOT be this device. Read More
As excited as we are for Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm to launch all this news is getting a little crazy. This time details are pointing to more of a confirmed release date for VZW. Looks like November 1st will be the starting launch date for the Storm. Check out the details in the image above for more details on Verizon’s Storm plans…
P.S. Verizon’s BlackBerry Storm pre-teaser site is back online!
YES! It’s finally online. After a very long wait (well not really..) Verizon has put the BlackBerry Storm 9530 coming soon page online. You can register to be notified when the Storm is available for purchase. Unfortunately no pricing or launch dates are listed on the page. Let’s all still pray for a November 1st launch. We’re also still waiting for official news from RIM about the device as well.
UPDATE: It looks like Verizon has taken down the page. Maybe RIM wants Verizon to wait until they officially announce it? Stay tuned for updates.
UPDATE 2: Here is a higher quaility version of the internal video released by Verizon. See it here.
So as you may or may not know VZW show their employees today a sneak preview of the BlackBerry Storm. The Storm has been named by Verizon to “Take the World by Storm” and will be RIM’s first ever touch screen smartphone. The good folks over at CrackBerry managed to score the actual internal video that VZW employees saw. The sound quailty is a little poor but check it out:
UPDATE: Here is a copy of VZW’s Minute with Mike video in higher quality.
Key Features of the BlackBerry Storm 9530 World Edition include:

- 1GB internal memory and is expandable with MicroSD
- and of course its BlackBerry powered! :-)
Internal Document of Talking Points for BlackBerry Storm:
Interesting news is floating around about an internal email going around Verizon’s office. Apparently Verizon has some exciting news to share with us on Monday. A big finger print is also on the side of the image, which might point to a touch screen device. We can only hope that Verizon and RIM will be announcing the BlackBerry Storm (aka Thunder) 9530 World Edition on Monday.
If this is true (which we hope it is!) we don’t get why RIM or Verizon didn’t make an announcement at CTIA Fall 08′. Anyways stay tuned!
Great news has just arrived from the Boy Genius! It seems that the BlackBerry Storm 9530 (formally known as Thunder) has been moved into Technical Acceptance by Verizon. This means that usually devices in this process are 3-4 weeks away. However the device may be delayed internally by RIM for an additional 3-4 weeks. This will give them enough time to work out all of the kinks (ie. the touch screen) but with any luck at all we may see it sometime in November.
