Touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder to feature Haptic Technology

To continue on with our BlackBerry Thunder coverage, Kevin from CrackBerry got some details on the Thunder's new touch screen keyboard. Apparently the Thunder will sport "Haptic Technology" meaning when the display is pressed the screen moves in a tiny bit to give you a real feedback feeling. Apparently every time the keyboard is pressed you will feel a buzz to let you know its been pressed.

One of the best parts is the Thunder will feature both SureType and a full QWERTY keyboard. So when the Thunder is upright it will use a SureType keyboard (think Pearl) and when its sideways a full QWERTY keyboard.

RIM has always known to come out with some of the best keyboard's for smartphones. Let's just hope they do the same for touchscreen smartphones. By the sounds of it they have something really cool in store. Click on over for some more details and a video of Haptic Technology… Read More

“Unknown” BlackBerry smartphones found in XML files

Details have emerged of upcoming BlackBerry devices. Some of these devices we talked about in the past, one new guy we haven't heard of yet. These code names were found in some device XML files…

Boy Genius caught wind of the BlackBerry Javelin which should be the 3G-less Bold (and part of the 9000 series). Next up is the BlackBerry Storm (aka Thunder) which will be the touch screen BlackBerr and RIM's next CDMA smartphone. Then of course the not so secret BlackBerry Kickstart, a flip phone BlackBerry expected to launch on T-Mobile later this year. Hmm then talk of a model called Seawolf 9110 which BG thinks is the GPS enabled Kickstart for AT&T. Last one he found is a model called Aurora which he feels is just a old prototype maybe even something from the Pearl 8100 series.

Ok so all and all that was BlackBerry Javelin, Storm/Thunder, Kickstart, Seawolf and Aurora. That's a ton of rumors. One thing you may want to notice if you look at the XML file pictured above for the BlackBerry Storm/Thunder it shows Keyboard Type=VIRTUAL booyeah!

What will the Thunder’s keyboard be like?

So today I was thinking… What will the rumored BlackBerry Thunder's keyboard be like? Do you think they will do something similar to Apple's iPhone QWERTY keyboard (just like our mock up) or will they do a on screen Suretype QWERTY keyboard? Maybe even both? It's really hard to say what RIM will do. We aren't too sure yet but we bet it'll be hot.

Touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder 9500 spotted?

Take this one with a grain of salt. Engadget is showing a picture which looks like a cheesy photoshop mock up of supposedly the rumored touchscreen BlackBerry (Thunder 9500). The picture which was originally shown over at a company called Horizon Wireless. It's now being rumored that its not the actual unit itself but just a housing for the upcoming smartphone.

So we aren't too sure what to think about this one.

BlackBerry Thunder, the touchscreen BlackBerry details

So this comes as a shock this morning, the BGR has some new details on BlackBerry Thunder. In case you don't know what the BlackBerry Thunder is it’s the touch screen BlackBerry also temporally modeled 9500. Now here's the thing you would have expected it to be a Quadband GSM device, well guess what? So far it’s a CDMA Rev. C (UMB) device slated for a Q3 of this year launch exclusively on Verizon and Vodafone.

Now according to BGR if Verizon doesn't meet the sales quota projected by RIM then they loose the exclusiveness and other CDMA carriers would be able to launch it (maybe some people in Canada??). I would imagine to see a 3G version coming as well, they're just isn't any details yet on that.

Oh also the image above IS NOT AN ACTUAL image of the device simply a mockup of what it could look like. It’s said the device will sport only four buttons send, end, BlackBerry menu key and back key.
