Palm Pre gets hands on treatment from BGR

pre41

Even though this usually is stricly a BlackBerry blog from time to time we do talk about some of the other smartphones hitting the market. The BGR team is on location of CTIA 2009 and they got a little hands on time with the upcoming Palm Pre smartphone. The Pre is Palm’s next generation device running an all new OS with a sweet curved body making it similar to the iPhone. The Pre features some really interesting things such as Touchstone, the wireless charging pod. Sprint is getting ready to launch this bad boy in the United States very soon so enjoy Boy Genius Report’s quick photo shoot for now…

So what do you think? Would you leave BlackBerry for Palm’s new Pre?

Palm’s last stand – Introducing the Palm Pre (Exclusively for Sprint)

I know this doesn’t really count as BlackBerry news but I thought I’d show off Palm’s latest smartphone called “Pre”. This device seems to be a cross between Apple’s iPhone and RIM’s BlackBerry Storm. The Palm Pre features a 3.1″ touchscreen with multitouch, EVDO Rev. A, Wi-Fi, GPS, slide-out QWERTY keyboard, stereo Bluetooth, 3.5mm headphone jack, 8GB of internal storage and 3.0 megapixel camera to top it all off. Pre will also features Palm’s new WebOS (formally code-named “Nova”). The Palm Pre will start exclusively on Sprint in the United States and a GSM/3G version will be seen for other parts of the World. Palm also has included a new technology to wirelessly sync and charge to Pre called “TouchStone”. It’s an additional accessory that can be purchased once the device becomes available.

No pricing has not been announced as of yet, however the device should be launching very soon. If you want to find some more details on Pre head over to Palm.com or Sprint.com.

The specs on this device certaintally take a stab at both Apple and RIM but the question all over the interent is will it save Palm? Any readers here thinking of giving one a test drive?

BlackBerry Bold is coming in CDMA as well?

Something very odd was brought to my attention today. Infosync World posted some details on the BlackBerry Bold including approxment size, pricing and launch details. Apparently the BlackBerry Bold 9000 will launch on AT&T in July 2008 for around $300 w/ contract, T-Mobile will launch in September 2008… Oh plus Verizon and Sprint both in September 2008 for $300 with contract. Honestly that sounds a bit odd to me that they would be launching it so soon as well.

Anyways no word on pricing or launch date for Canada's Rogers Wireless just yet.

Sprint Curve 8330 ads appear in Sunday papers!

Sprint Curve 8330

Sprint has been advertising their BlackBerry Curve 8330 in a lot of American newspapers on Sunday. It's showing the Curve "coming soon" for $179.99 with contract after rebates. One interesting bit about this ad is that it shows two colors available (Titanium and Red). So most likely we will see Sprint's Curve available this week.
