Honestly we thought the Pearl 8100 was end of life a while ago, but apparently not. Fido has just released a red colored BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (yes, not the 8120) for the Holiday season. If you still dare pick up this classic it will cost you $0 with three year term, or $400 without term. Combine that with Fido’s BlackBerry Plan’s and you’ve got yourself an old school classic. BlackBerry Bold 9700 Now Available from Rogers!

As you may know all three major Canadian networks are getting set to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700 this week. Rogers seems to have jumped on the ship first, being the first network to officially release it. Starting today you pick up the Bold 9700 for $299 with three year term, or $599 without. The new Bold features high resolution display, with full QWERTY keyboard, trackpad navigation, GPS, Wi-Fi, 3.2 megapixel camera, and operates on RIM’s new OS 5.0. BlackBerry Bold 9700 starts making it’s way to Rogers stores

Looks like Rogers might be the first to launch the BlackBerry Bold 9700 in Canada! Tips have started to arrive that a select bunch of Rogers stores have started to receive their Bold 9700 stock. We still haven’t heard officially from Rogers when they plan to launch the device, but we most likely will hear something this week. Apparently pricing is expected to be $299 with three year term, or $599 without contract. So sit back and wait a few more days before the official launch.

Rogers getting BlackBerry Bold 9700 on October 26th!

Over the past few weeks months we’ve seen a ton of BlackBerry 9700 rumors, and now Boy Genius has confirmed that Rogers will launching the BlackBerry Bold 9700 aka Onyx on October 26th. While Rogers has no commented, it’s expected the Bold 9700 will launch at a high price range (somewhere around $249+ with three year). So sit back and stay tuned for more details once we get them. Best Buy lists Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8520 $99/$449

It seems the Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8520 is just around the corner. Today Best Buy Canada “accidentally” listed the BlackBerry Curve 8520 for Rogers on their site. It’s currently listed at $99 with three year contract or $449 without. This comes after launch materials and dummy phones have arrived at some Rogers retail stores across Canada. This might mean we will see an official launch sometime soon. Keep checking in…

Rogers BlackBerry Curve 8520 Spotted in Wild!

It seems that Rogers might be launching the Curve 8520 soon than later. The first live picture of a Rogers branded 8520 has been spotted over at BGR. This unit is running OS 4.6.1.274, and appears to have zero physical branding, just the OS boot up screen. Looks like this is the start of things to come… Anyone care to leak out some shots of the Rogers branded Onyx (Bold 9700)??

BlackBerry Bold 9700 & Curve 8520 Found in Rogers Inventory!

We knew it would come soon than later, but proof the BlackBerry Bold 9700 “Onyx” and Curve 8520 “Gemini” are heading to Rogers has arrived. Boy Genius obtained some screen shots of Rogers’ internal upgrading system, which shows both devices listed. It’s not known when either of the devices will be available, or even pricing at this time. We think both devices should launch late this month or early next… Stay tuned for confirmation.

BlackBerry Bold 9700 “Onyx” Found in Bell’s Inventory!

Forget about the Tour! Looks what a Bell ninja found in Bell’s inventory system… It’s a HSPA BlackBerry listed as the Bold 9700. Do you know which model we’re talking about? It’s the BlackBerry Onyx. Looks like Bell’s plans to move into HSPA are moving along quite nice, with a launch expected by the end of the year. It’s still way to early to talk about pricing, but its sweet to know that Bell is working on getting the Onyx. Now where is Rogers and TELUS?

Canadian Carriers using Special RIM Devices for HSPA+ Network Testing

I was reading an article by Ronen from BerryReview, when I received a similar tip in my inbox. Rogers Wireless recently announced they would begin upgrading their current 3G (HSPA) network to a faster 21mbps speed. Well apparently Rogers is using special RIM devices to test out the new faster network, which should launch starting August. I just received a tip from a ninja who says Telus is also using special RIM smartphones to test their upcoming HSPA network, that’s expected to roll out across Canada soon. We can only assume that Bell is also using RIM devices to test their HSPA network as well, due to their partnership for building the network with Telus. Neither ninjas are sure if or when RIM plans to make a consumer ready device that will run North American HSPA frequencies anytime soon, but we hope they do sooner than later. If anyone has pictures of these devices feel free to send them to us. ;)

BlackBerry Storm 2 shall be 9550, getting ready for CDMA networks, plus 9520 for Rogers and AT&T

I somehow missed this story on the weekend. Boy Genius is reporting that the BlackBerry Storm 2 will be modeled 9550, and will be heading towards Verizon, Vodafone, Bell and Telus. The new Storm 2 is said to bring RIM’s next generation “SurePress” touchscreen with CDMA/Rev. A radio, Quad-band GSM, HSDPA, plus Wi-Fi, GPS, and a 3.2 megapixel camera. It’s going to be a feature packed device sporting OS 5.0 and a high resolution 360×480 display. But wait there’s more! Boy Genius is reporting that the North American GSM model (9520) will be part of the Storm 2 family, and make its way to AT&T and Rogers with a 3G radio. Both models (9550 and 9520) should be heading across the World later this year.
