Telus lowers prices on Pearl, Curve and Storm! Making room for new models?

Luke just let me know that Telus has just dropped their prices on all current BlackBerry models including the Pearl, Curve and Storm. This prices take effect today (June 17, 2009) and must be combined with a voice and data plan (such as Smartphone Combo 45). It looks like Telus is getting ready to make room for some new BlackBerry models (Tour anyone??) by adjusting the no contract prices on the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and Curve 8330, plus lowering the three year contract price on the Storm 9530.

BlackBerry Pearl 8130 $0 with 3-year, $329.99 no contract (was $499)
BlackBerry Curve 8330 $49 with 3-year, $449 no contract (was $549)
BlackBerry Storm is now $149 with 3-year term from $249

In case you haven’t seen it floating around the internet yet, someone got a hold of a Verizon branded BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230. Just a few weeks ago we reported that TELUS will be the first in Canada to launch the flip BlackBerry and it seems that Verizon will be jumping aboard for the United States. Orange UK officially announces Prepaid BlackBerry Service w/ Pearl 8120

Totally forgot to post this yesterday. Orange UK contacted us to let to let everyone know that they will be the first carrier in the UK to launch prepaid BlackBerry smartphones. They showed on the Orange site a while back as coming soon and now its official. Orange will be launching the BlackBerry Pearl 8120 (yes, Wi-Fi) in Indigo Blue or Titanium. The price is will be �145 which works out to just under $210 USD and monthly service for BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) will only cost you �5 ($7 USD).

Looks like the rumors about Fido carrying the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 has been confirmed more by the BerryReview team. It seems Fido will start selling BlackBerry with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) only service. Pricing for the old school Pearl 8100 starts at $25 with three year term and ends at $400 with no contract/month to month. A couple things to point out Fido will not be offering BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) support but they will allow tethering with their data plans. Fido will not officially support any other BlackBerry models, however if you were to pick up an unlocked Berry you would be able to use it!

Fido BlackBerry Pearl 8100 Pricing:

$400 MTM / No Contract
$350 on a 2 Year
$25 on a 3 year w/ Voice + Data (no minimum monthly total cost required).

If you have a BlackBerry 8000 or 9000 series device and looked into unlocking then you know its usually expensive. Simon over at IntoMobile has posted details on how to unlock your device for free! So this unlocks virtually any BlackBerry Pearl, Curve, Pearl Flip or 8800 series. All you have to do is download the files from Rapidshare and follow the instructions below… Good luck and enjoy!

1.� Download and install Microsoft NET Framework 2.0

2. Download and install Blackberry desktop manager v4.7.0.32

3. Download and install Blackberry Operating System

4. Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common files\research in motion\apploader

5. Download and install MFI Multiloader.

6. Open MFI Multiloader shortcut on your PC and wait until shows up as:

8. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager on your PC and read how to update/reinstall BlackBerry Operating System explained below. How To update/ReInstall BlackBerry Operating System ? Connect your device to your computer. Open the BlackBerry� Desktop Manager. Click Application Loader. Click Start in Add/Remove Applications or Update Applications. If necessary, perform the following actions: If the Device Security Password dialog box appears, type your device password. Click Next. If the Communication Port Selection dialog box appears, specify a communications port. Click Next. Click Next. Perform any of the following actions: To add an application that appears in the list, select the check box beside the application. To add an application that does not appear in the list, click Browse. Double-click an application loader (.alx or .ali) file. Click Next.

9. Click Finish.

10. Congratulations, your BlackBerry unlock is done for free! You can now replace your SIM and memory card and set up your phone the way you like it.

Solo Mobile set to launch BlackBerry Pearl 8130

Bell Canada’s own little budget brand Solo Mobile is getting set to launch their first BlackBerry smartphone. Solo will be launching the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 in white near the end of this month. Pricing is expected to land around $49 with three year term. Solo will offer similar data plans to both Bell and TELUS, however will also offer voice and data package combos.

More details should arrive closer to the end of the month.

TELUS Storm launching 11/17, plus more Pearl colors

We’ve received a very solid tip that TELUS’ release date for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 is set for November 17th (unless RIM pushes it back). If this is right TELUS would have a five day exclusive over Bell here in Canada. The tipster also is reporting that TELUS will charge users .50 cents per stream of Youtube clips, however if the client has certain data packages with web browsing (not known which ones at this time) then Youtube streaming will be included. Last but not least TELUS will be introducing both Red and Blue BlackBerry Pearl 8130’s early next month.

UPDATE: The tipster has sent in a few more details… Below is a picture of the two new colored Pearl 8130’s. Apparently the Storm is expected for November 17th, however RIM may still be working on software patches. Unfortunately no more details are available as of now. I guess we will have to play the waiting game…
