T-Mobile launches BlackBerry Curve 8900

(stay tuned for actual press shots from RIM…)

Early this morning T-Mobile Germany and RIM announced the release of the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (formally known as Javelin). Available Mid-November, the Curve 8900 is the latest upgrade in the Curve series of smartphones. It features a large 2.4″ high resolution display, 3.2 megapixel camera with flash, enhanced media player with podcast support, EDGE, Wi-Fi, OS 4.6 and a thinner desig with full QWERTY keyboard.

The Curve 8900 will cost 359 Euros ($450 USD) with no contract or 4.95 Euros with 24 month contract. Now that T-Mobile Germany has announced this new Curve. Announcements from AT&T, Maybe T-Mobile USA? and Rogers can’t be too far behind.

Interesting enough in this announcement they didn’t make any comments to a newly re-designed trackball? Originally it was said that the Curve 8900 would launch with an Atomic trackball. I wonder if thats still a go? Read More

AT&T branded BlackBerry Curve 8900 reviewed

The Gizmodo team got their hands on a AT&T branded BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka Javelin) for review. If you check out Gizmodo you will see a bunch of high resolution pictures and a mini review of the the device. This also appears to be the first AT&T branded pictures seen of the Curve 8900. Here’s a quick blurb from their review:

The Bold is more substantial, exuding “executive” to the Curve 8900’s “middle manager” or “normal person.” It’s clearly more powerful, and has a bigger screen. The keyboards are way different, too—personally, I prefer the Bold’s larger, squishier keys to the Curve’s smaller, stiffer ones. But obviously, the biggest thing is 3G. The Bold has it, the Curve 8900 doesn’t, and we missed it sorely.

Another BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin) Video

Mobile Syrup managed to get their hands on a pre-production BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin). This second edition Curve is expected to hit Rogers later this year or early 2009. Check out their video review and see what they think of this hot new Curve.

The Curve 8900 features OS 4.7 similar to the BlackBerry Bold, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi, large high resolution 480×360 display and GPS. Basically its a smaller verison of the Bold without the 3G part. Enjoy the video!

RIM working on Palm Treo killer next?

Boy Genius plans to keep everyone jumpy until WES 2009. Seems BG got a tip that RIM is working on a Storm-like Bold-like design. Apparently RIM will be showing off at WES 2009 (I know its a long ways away) this new touch screen model which is similar to the Bold and upcoming Curve 8900 (Javelin). It will compete directly with Palm’s touch screen models. So because this is very early information no official codename or model is known. Check out his mock up of this Treo Berry like device. Now I guess its time to sit back and wait for more details…

BlackBerry Curve 8900 listed on T-Mobile

Sounds like T-Mobile Germany is feeling a little left out with all the Vodafone Storm news. T-Mobile has just listed the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (aka Javelin) on their website as coming in November. They have also listed the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8220 as coming this month.

The BlackBerry Curve 8900 is the EDGE only replacement for the Curve series, which also features GPS, Wi-Fi, 480×360 high resolution screen and a 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus. We should expect to see an official announcement from RIM soon…

3 x Javelin (Curve 8900) in the wild…

You are reading that correct. Kevin from CrackBerry was at the airport yesterday and it seems he wasn’t the only one with a unreleased BlackBerry Javelin (soon to be Curve) 8900. Kevin says he saw not one but THREE of this hot new toy. So either RIM has some serious stolen phones on eBay or a bunch of employees are now testing them…

BlackBerry Javelin to get new trackball & name

</p>

Kevin from CrackBerry has confirmed that the BlackBerry Javelin will become part of the Curve family (not a surprise). Not only that but the “Javelin 8900″ as we are calling it for now will feature a new style trackball called “Atomic trackball”. This will help prevent dust, dirt and other stuff from getting into the trackball and causing it to stop responding. Read More

Some higher resolution pictures of the unreleased BlackBerry Javelin have been posted. The pictures come from BBNews and their member Fr0zen.
