Fido brings Red BlackBerry Pearl 8100 for Holiday Season 2009

Blackberry_8100red_165x325-152x300Honestly we thought the Pearl 8100 was end of life a while ago, but apparently not. Fido has just released a red colored BlackBerry Pearl 8100 (yes, not the 8120) for the Holiday season. If you still dare pick up this classic it will cost you $0 with three year term, or $400 without term. Combine that with Fido’s BlackBerry Plan’s and you’ve got yourself an old school classic. Get more details at Fido.ca.

Fido to pick up BlackBerry Curve 8320 this July… for $50

fido-leak-13

Looks like Rogers is finally ready to let the leash loose on Fido. In a leaked presentation that shows Fido’s upcoming handsets the ole faithful BlackBerry Curve 8320 was shown. The 8320 should show up for about $50 with three year contract (with voice and data plan). It’s expected to launch on or around July 13th. This means Fido will be getting a semi-newer BlackBerry to replace their dead before it even launched Pearl 8100. Oh and in case there is any iPhone fans here apparently Fido will be getting a smaller 4GB iPhone (Nano?) as well.

Oh by the way Fido… What happened to launching the Pearl Flip 8220?

Fido stores starting to receive BlackBerry Pearl 8100s – Launching Feb. 4th

fido81202

Word over at BGR is that some Fido stores are starting to receive their shipments of BlackBerry Pearl 8100s. This will be Fido’s first BlackBerry smartphone on the network and we wouldn’t be surprised if these we’re just left over Rogers stock. Fido will be selling the Pearl 8100 for $25 on three year term or $400 without term. The best news to come out of this is that Fido will be allowing unlocked BlackBerrys on their network so this means you could use something a little better such as Bold, Curve and even a Pearl Flip.

Stay tuned for Fido to lauch other BlackBerry models later this year…

Fido BlackBerry Pearl 8100 launching Feb. 4th – Pricing & Plan Details…

fido_logo

Looks like the rumors about Fido carrying the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 has been confirmed more by the BerryReview team. It seems Fido will start selling BlackBerry with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) only service. Pricing for the old school Pearl 8100 starts at $25 with three year term and ends at $400 with no contract/month to month. A couple things to point out Fido will not be offering BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) support but they will allow tethering with their data plans. Fido will not officially support any other BlackBerry models, however if you were to pick up an unlocked Berry you would be able to use it!

BlackBerry coming to Fido very soon?

Rogers’ budget brand Fido under went some crazy re branding lately. A new rumor has arrived over at BGR and apparently Fido is trying to push out their first BlackBerry smartphone for this Christmas season. Earlier this year Fido killed off their BlackBerry Connect service which only ran on the Nokia E62. Apparently Fido might follow a similar suit to both Solo and Virgin Mobile by offering the Pearl as their first BlackBerry.

One interesting note is Fido seems to want to launch the Pearl 8120, the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry. After the Holiday season Fido may launch the BlackBerry Pearl Flip as well.

Rogers is finally going to jump on the competitive bandwagon for data rates in Canada. Rogers is set to release new data rates including 300MB for $30 a month (BIS only).Even though other networks in Canada have $30 for unlimited, we'll take 300MB from Rogers for now. But what is unfair is when Rogers releases the iPhone next month data plans start at $30 a month for Unlimited data and visual voicemail. Skip on over to see the rest of the slides.

R.I.P. BlackBerry Connect on Fido

Did you know that as of June 3rd Fido has killed off the BlackBerry connect package for new subscribers? Me either. According to a post over at HowardForums the service was killed off due to the introduction of new data products. Previously clients could use the BlackBerry connect option for the Nokia E62 or an unlocked BlackBerry device. Current Fido customers with this option on their account are allowed to keep it as a grandfathered feature. All we can say is damn you iPhone.
