BlackBerry Extends Push API to Developers @ WES 2009

When I woke up this morning I had tons of email and 5 of which was RIM letting us know about their new announcements before WES ‘09. One of them caught my attention right away (BES 5.0) then followed by this one titled “RIM Further Extends Push Technology to BlackBerry Developers” which is great news! This means that software developers will now have access to RIM’s push technology bring content to BlackBerry smartphones in real time, as soon as it is sent. BB Dev Conf: Day 2 brings tons of press releases

Being day two of RIM’s first ever Developer Conference brought lots of press releases. RIM introduced the Application Center similar to Apple and Google’s App stores. This will allow developers to sell applications and receive payments via Paypal. The App Center wasn’t a very big surprise after it was leaked weeks ago.

RIM to hold BlackBerry Developer Conference

RIM also announced a new annual developer conference aimed at bringing all developers from around the World. The conference is sheduled for October 20th this year in Santa Clara, California.

"Based on growing demand from the BlackBerry development community, we are very pleased to announce a new conference focused on developing consumer and business applications for the BlackBerry platform," said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at RIM. "The new annual BlackBerry Developer Conference in the fall will complement the successful Wireless Enterprise Symposium held each spring and will provide a dedicated forum to help developers keep pace with advances in the latest hardware, software, tools and best practices for developing on the BlackBerry platform."
