Our friends at OtterBox have just introduced their latest case designed for the BlackBerry Tour. The new Commuter Case is a cross between OtterBox’s current Impact Skin and the heavy duty Defender Case. The Commuter series includes three layers of protection, the first being the screen protector, followed by the polycarbonate shell, and last the silicon skin. Starting today they are available from OtterBox for only $35, and should be arriving in the BBSync Store soon.

The OtterBox Commuterâ„¢ Series case for the BlackBerry® Tourâ„¢ 9600 Series offers the best of both worlds; incorporating elements from the rugged Defenderâ„¢ Series line with the silicone, skin-like Impactâ„¢ Series line to create a slick case designed with your style in mind. It’s protection without the bulk. The exposed silicone corners dissipate impact away from the device for additional bump and shock protection and the smooth outer layer allows the case to easily slide into your pocket or purse. iSkin has been known to design some really nice iPhone cases, but now they’ve expanded their lineup by introducing cases for BlackBerry. iSkin has introduced the Vibe series for the BlackBerry Bold, Curve 8900, and Storm. Unfortunately no love for the BlackBerry Tour 9630 or Curve 8520 just yet. We’ve been checking out these cases for the past few weeks and so far we’re very impressed! They fit like a glove, and are designed to protect for sure. Included in the packaging is both the skin and a mirrored screen protector for maximum protection and privacy.

Not only do the iSkin’s come in various colors, the Vibe FX skins come engraved with a subtle argyle patterns and look awesome! At this time the Vibe FX skins are only available for the Curve 8900. Now we did mention the Vibe skins are currently available for the BlackBerry Bold and Storm, and hopefully launching for the BlackBerry Tour soon. Conclusion: iSkin has always known to make some of the best cases for the iPhone, and now the introduction of their latest lineup for BlackBerry looks great. These cases are pretty sweet, look great and create solid protection. The price isn’t as cheap as some skins, however you seem to get a much more stylish case. The only thing we noticed with all three of these cases is the lining up with certain ports, such as charger or headphones isn’t 100% bang on. Just something minor and they do work without lining up. The Vibe cases on both the BlackBerry Curve 8900 and Storm fit well, but the buttons on top of the device (for lock and mute) are fairly difficult to press.

Pros: Stylish, tons of great colors, mirror screen protector included

Cons: Mid-Range pricing ($30+), ports don’t always line up, top keys for mute/lock aren’t easy to press

If you’ve ever looked at OtterBox cases in the past, you generally think of heavy duty and a little more bulky cases. Well today I’m showing you the Impact Case for the BlackBerry Tour 9600 series. OtterBox offers three different types of BlackBerry cases: Defender and Commuter Series, followed by the Impact series. Depending on how you’re looking to protect your phone the Impact skin does offer the most value for your dollar.

Think of the Impact Case as a tough and rugged version on RIM’s silicon skin. It features an all around wrap design with a bonus screen protector in box. Now unfortunately the Impact skin/case does not include a belt clip, and is a little too big to use in the stock case found in box. The Impact Case does however make a great pocket case.

Pros: More protection than more skins, great wrap around protection, extremely affordable!

Cons: No belt clip

Conclusion: My final thoughts on the OtterBox Impact Case is nothing but positive. I have switched from using a normal RIM “tough skin” to the Impact Skin by OtterBox, and have zero complaints. The overall fit is way better than any skin I’ve seen currently available for the Tour. I recommend you check out this case, if you’re looking for something to protect your device, without the huge added bulk of similar OtterBox products.

I was checking in with my friends over at OtterBox, only to see that they’ve got some Tour cases coming soon! Looks like OtterBox plans on launching both the Impact Case (skin) and Defender Case for the new BlackBerry Tour 9630. The Impact Case (pictured left) is an alternative to RIM’s silicon case. It features more protection and a more wrap like feeling.
