Pandora Radio now available on BlackBerry Storm!

pandora-2

It seems like not too long ago that Pandora released their BlackBerry application for the BlackBerry Bold, Curve, Pearl and 8800 series smartphones. Only issue was they didn’t release one for the Storm! Well it appears that Pandora has been update to new version 1.0.2 and with that brings support for the BlackBerry Storm. It doesn’t appear to be on their site as of yet but its confirmed to be working on Verizon Storms. At this time Pandora ONLY works in the United States and leaves Canada and the rest of the World in the dark…

But if your in the United States upgrade or get Pandora for the Storm at pandora.com/blackberry.

Must Have App for BlackBerry Storm: StormLock

stormlock-screenshot_1

Being a BlackBerry Storm owner, one of the biggest challenges is the touchscreen. Unfortunately its very easy to press speaker, mute or even flash during a call due to the touchscreen being heat sensitive. Previously I’ve tested applications that lock the keyboard while your on a call, however make it difficult if you need to unlock during a call. An application called StormLock seems to be your best bet. StormLock allows you to unlock your locked Storm with a simple press of the back key. Not only that but StormLock will also allow you to customize the time before the lock activates or even choose numbers that it won’t lock on such as voicemail or apartment door buzzer. StormLock features a very clean, simple and easy to use design which makes it almost fool proof. Another handy feature about this application is the fact that you can now set StormLock to one of your side convenince keys, making it even easier to use on the go. It’s available for the low price of only $2.95 and is worth every penny in my opinon.

QuickPull v.2 for Blackberry Has Arrived! Free Download!

Recently, QuickPull v1.1.2 was updated and released by Steelthorn to v2.0.13 (beta) . QuickPull comes from the very same makers who produced Auto Standby and StormLock. For those readers who aren’t familiar with the application, it simulates a battery pull that we are all familiar with. Only difference is, with this application you no longer need to remove the back cover and battery of the phone, or use alt+control+delete as a soft reset. Another difference and benefit of the program is that it’s free. With this program you are even able to schedule a QuickPull. The update addresses the following: Fixed IllegalArgumentException and it now automatically accepts reset dialog. This program works with the Blackberry phones running 4.5 and up. If you currently have QuickPull, it is recommended that you update it, if you don’t have it, why not? A program that does battery pulls for you and is free, what can be easier?

Review: vPost by Vayyoo for BlackBerry

I would like to introduce you to a program called vPost. VPost is an application published by Vayyoo. The application description states that you are able to send by email up to five different multimedia files in an email which includes: voice notes, pictures, video, and map location by utilizing your BlackBerry media. I evaluated this software on my Blackberry Curve 8330.

My wireless carrier does not have the GPS open so the GPS function was not enabled for this application. When first opening the application, I only knew what the description stated. The program is priced around ten dollars for a onetime fee. The icon sits as a little black box with blue lettering, once installed. I really was interested in this software for a few reasons, having all the phone’s multimedia applications in one place, and how it would appeal to newbies who have not gotten the hang of the video camera, camera, or voice notes. Bolt Browser goes Beta 2 and brings better BlackBerry support

capture23_19_19

Bolt Browser has just been upgraded to Beta 2 and now brings better support for most BlackBerry smartphones, including the Storm. If your a Storm owner you will be happy to know that Bolt seems to be working much better on the device. Previously Bolt was horrible on the Storm and I wasn’t that impressed until now. Anyway Bolt Browser Beta 2 now has its own BlackBerry version and you can find the links below…

You can download Beta 2 for BlackBerry by clicking here or visiting boltbrowser.com.

New Features:

  • – Significantly improved BlackBerry scrolling speed and control
  • – A new 3XL (extra large) magnification mode with content 33.3 percent bigger than in 2XL
  • – Double tap approach to select links on touchscreen devices like the BlackBerry storm (eliminates inadvertent clicks)
  • – Wi-Fi auto-selection as default option when Wi-Fi is both enabled and available
  • – Save and view pages locally on the phone
  • – Support for folders in favorites
  • – A new landscape viewing feature
  • – Improved magnifier dragging in split screen mode on the BlackBerry Storm
  • – Improved video quality on mpeg4 capable devices.
  • – Lightweight encryption when HTTPS is disabled by the user — secures the user session by encrypting login and web page data. While not as secure as HTTPS, this offers much better security compared to unencrypted plain text.
  • – Improved scrolling speed in image rich pages.
  • – Double tap enhancements for switching between split and full screen
  • – Improved BlackBerry Storm home page tab clicking
  • – A user preferences page to reduce menu clutter – especially good on the BlackBerry since there we utilize the native menu structure (without sub-menus)

Shazam launches for BlackBerry – Identify nearly any song, anywhere

shazam_main

Have you ever been driving along and heard a song that you just had to know what it was? A nifty application called Shazam is here to solve this problem. Originally Shazam was designed for the iPhone, however they have just released their first BlackBerry application. Shazam is offering a free 60 day trial for the app then you can purchase it. For some odd reason they decided to launch the application without supporting the BlackBerry Storm (who knows why). Anyways you can download Shazam from BlackBerry App World directly on your device.

Key features of Shazam for BlackBerry:

  • Identify music anywhere: from the radio, TV, film, or in a store by simply holding a BlackBerry smartphone towards the music and selecting ‘Tag Now’.
  • Buy music immediately when it’s heard: tag details link directly to Amazon, and other merchants as available, to give users instant access to the music they love and related music merchandise.
  • Share the experience: send tags to friends who share same musical taste via SMS, email or BlackBerry® PIN messaging.
  • Learn more about the music: read track and album reviews, artist biographies and (starting in North America initially) view song lyrics, plus find other music available from the same artist.
  • Options to find similar music: discover other music similar to the track users like, to enhance their music collection and knowledge.
  • Find out what’s hot and popular: access to Shazam music charts generated by millions of other users in country.
