An Evening With A Movie And A Raincheck.

blackberrymovies[1]

It was a date hosted by RIM for T-Mobile’s release of the BlackBerry 8520. The Boy Genius Report has a picture that a reader who won sent in. The event had some goodies, a giveaway which is delivered by mail, and the new movie Transformers 2. You have to love RIM, they know how to treat a date!

And some people wonder why we BlackBerry addicts appear to love our phones and pay more attention to them than our significant others, wonder why?

BlackBerry Curve 8520 arriving at T-Mobile Q4, 2009

curve8520

Boy Genius got some hands-on time with the BlackBerry Curve 8520 (previously code-named Gemini). As you may know the 8520 is set to RIM’s new low cost addition to the Curve family featuring an all new optical trackball and OS 4.6 maybe 5.0 by launch. Anyway Boy Genius has confirmed that T-Mobile USA will in fact be launching the 8520 in Q4 of this year. They also said they wouldn’t be surprised if the 8520 was sold as a “BlackBerry In A Box” solution. Either way the hot new part of the Curve family will see T-Mobile soon enough.

My only question: Why is it everytime this device gets reviewed they get two of them?

BlackBerry Curve 8520 “Gemini” First Impressions Review

lg85201

Kevin doesn’t seem to be too shy with all these un-released BlackBerry devices. He recently got his hands on the new low end Curve (code-named Gemini) and now it’s time for his first impressions hands on review. This will be the BlackBerry Curve 8520 which will sport Quad-band GSM with EDGE (Unfortuantly no 3G), Wi-Fi, 2.0 megapixel camera with no flash, multimedia controls on the top of device and RIM’s new Optical Trackball. The Optical Trackball means that it physically doesn’t move and is more of a sensor. It’s quite a good idea to solve all those broken trackballs out there.

Curve 8520 Specs:

  • GSM/EGE device (no 3G)
  • 320×240 display
  • 256MB of internal memory
  • 1150mAh battery
  • 2 megapixel camera, no flash
  • processor speed is unknown at this point

Things to keep in mind: This is a still a pre-released device, therefore certain specs could change before the device officially launches.

First Live Pics of BlackBerry 8520 “Gemini” Appear w/ Optical Navigation!!!

blackberry-curve-8520-5

First off let me start this with a huge shout out my the folks at CrackBerry for yet again getting their hands on this BlackBerry prototype. Previous pictures of the BlackBerry Gemini showed it as sporting interchangeable faceplates and normal trackball, but the new live pics provided today show off the 8520’s new Optical side. So I would to introduce you to an actual production unit of the BlackBerry Curve 8520 (aka Gemini). The 8520 will unfortunately lack 3G and keep the boring 2.0 megapixel camera (now without flash?), but will sport a new optical trackball and interchangeable faceplates and Wi-Fi. Interesting enough it seems that RIM will be offering this device as part of the Curve series and will bring even more multimedia functions including rewind, forward and play buttons located at the top of the device. Not only that but the 8520 will also sport a iPhone like back made from metal and rubber (pretty hot!). Anyway enjoy these pics for now and I’m sure we will see a hands on review coming up shortly…
