Mobile Syrup managed to get their hands on a pre-production BlackBerry Curve 8900 (Javelin). This second edition Curve is expected to hit Rogers later this year or early 2009. Check out their video review and see what they think of this hot new Curve.
The Curve 8900 features OS 4.7 similar to the BlackBerry Bold, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto-focus, Wi-Fi, large high resolution 480×360 display and GPS. Basically its a smaller verison of the Bold without the 3G part. Enjoy the video!
We missed this one over the weekend. Boy Genius has released Rogers’ 2009 Blackberry lineup! Its filled with one new device every quarter and it will all start off with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (formally known as Javelin) in Q1 then followed by a BlackBerry Storm varriant in Q2, BlackBerry “Magnum” (Curve 8900 with 3G) for Q3 and last but not least the BlackBerry Pluto (Bold-like device with touchscreen) for Q4 of 2009. Keep in mind they most likely won’t be getting the internal names and call the devices Magnum and Pluto. Also we should expect to see several new devices at WES (Wireless Enterprise Symposium) 2009 :-).
As you may have read AT&T held a launch party in New York City the other night and basically didn’t have any Bold’s on hand to actually give out. Instead they gave everyone a I.O.U card to get a Bold at a later date. Anyways Boy Genius seems to have obtained an email stating the latest release date for RIM’s new 3G BlackBerry Bold 9000. It seems the Bold should arrive on October 27th and that the pricing is still unknown.
Apparently the issue that was holding the Bold back from releasing on AT&T has been fixed up and its all good to go! Stay tuned.
Another Vodafone BlackBerry Storm 9500 video has hit the internet. This time a three minute video on all of the Storm’s features. You really get to see how the web browsing works, the menus, GPS and Vodafone’s music store. Check it out and I’m sure you’ll be drooling just a bit more…
Vodafone has launched an interactive guide for the BlackBerry Storm 9500. One thing I noticed which I haven’t seen before is RIM is calling their Haptic feedback technology ClickThrough and also the Storm will support up to 16GB microSD memory cards (not 8GB!). Read the full story
Vodafone held a presentation to show off their upcoming touch screen BlackBerry Storm. The video shows off all the spiffy things that OS 4.7 will bring… Warning once you watch this video your going to want a Storm even more!
Its hard to believe that we are still waiting for the official launch seeing as how so much on this device has leaked out… Anyways enjoy the video!!
AT&T must be feeling a little heat from Verizon’s announcement of the first touch screen BlackBerry “Storm”. AT&T has released an internal document that outlines what the iPhone does that the Storm doesn’t. Here’s why they say the iPhone is so much better than the Storm:
- The iPhone uses multi-touch technology / Storm uses haptic feedback technology
- iPhone was Wi-Fi / Storm doesn’t
- iPhone has an app store / Storm doesn’t (maybe coming soon?)
- iPhone syncs with iTunes / Storm will be able too but not as well?
- iPhone users Safari for browsing / Storm uses RIM’s browser
- iPhone is GSM/3G / Storm is CDMA/GSM/Dual band HSDPA
Thanks to the latest round of spy shots, those of you who were concerned you wouldn’t be able to get your hands on a BlackBerry Storm unless you went to Big Red (aka Verizon) have been saved. Apparently RIM will be releasing a European only model of the Storm with GSM/EDGE/UMTS/HSDPA only. This model will be simply just BlackBerry Storm 9500. Check the full specs of the 9500: Read the full story
While usually we only cover BlackBerry news on the site this post is special. Apple has announced their upgraded iPhone featuring 3G and GPS. Apple also announced the new price tag of their 3G iPhone's. The 8GB version will ring in at only $199 everywhere (meaning $199USD or $199CAD) of course with a contract. AT&T will continue to be the exclusive carrier in the United States and looks like both Rogers and Fido will have it in Canada.
According to Jibi, the BlackBerry 9100 might just hiding around the corner. With all the talks about the upcoming BlackBerry 9000, we are wondering if the 9100 might be the 3G front-facing camera model we talked about earlier in the week.
Anyways Jibi over at BGR found some mentions of the BlackBerry 9000 and 9100 in some new Blackberry software. There is also mentions of an "External Display" which sounds very hot.
