Details About SocialScope Beta Update and Why You Don’t Have It…

I won’t lie SocialScope has become one of my favorite Twitter apps for BlackBerry, and even though I’ve been dying to get my hands on the latest beta version, it just hasn’t happened. Every time I send a tweet to @socialscope asking when I will get the update, I always see tons of people asking how I even got it. Well originally I signed up at getsocialscope.com and was randomly accepted to test it out. Unfortunately SocialScope receives tons of invite requests and because its in private beta they just can’t accept everyone. Any who the folks at SocialScope have published a new post on Tumbler explaining why only some have received the updated version, and why not everyone gets accepted. So don’t feel left out and keep checking in… Here’s a blurb from them:

First, no one should feel left out because they haven’t received an invite or are running a different version then someone else. As the beta progresses every one will be upgraded and more users will be added. Second, we’re always seeding new versions of the app to small groups of users to test, tune and tweak SocialScope. Keeping the test groups small allows us to work closely with these users; making changes that would otherwise drive you crazy and lead to overwhelming number of support emails for us.

Introducing Halcyon: Elecite’s new Premium BlackBerry Theme

Elecite recently introduced a hot new premium theme for BlackBerry. It’s called Halcyon and is designed for the BlackBerry Bold 9700, Curve 8900, Tour 9630 and Storm 9500 series. I think for this theme I’m just going to copy what Elecite writes, because it pretty much sums it up perfect. If you’re interested in grabbing a copy of this theme follow the link below…

Halycon features a bottom dock that houses 9 locked and ordered application icons: contacts, messages, calendar, tasks, memo, profiles, browser, facebook and twitter (ubertwitter). Each icon will show a beautiful oversized version and the Calendar and Messages apps will have a hidden Today preview area so you won’t have to open the app to see your appointments.

If that’s not enough, an 8-9 customizable icon menu with a weather slot is ready to get you to your favorite apps. It’s not possible to change the wallpaper on this one, since the oversized icons will keep your homescreen colorful.
