Not only that but the “Javelin 8900″ as we are calling it for now will feature a new style trackball called “Atomic trackball”. This will help prevent dust, dirt and other stuff from getting into the trackball and causing it to stop responding. Continue Reading

Who will get Storm in Canada? Bell or Telus?

Who will get Storm in Canada? Bell or Telus?

So the question this morning for Canadians is who will be launching the BlackBerry Storm 9530 first? Rumors over night claim Bell will have a 6 month exclusivity on it, however we don’t think that is true.

BlackBerryNews is reporting that they received a tip from a reliable source saying “Bell Mobility will be in fact releasing the Storm in mid Q4/early Q1. Also it will be exclusive for 6 months to the Bell system. So Telus will have to wait.

After hearing of this we checked with several sources, which have helped us in the past with Telus’ launches. They claim that Bell has no exclusivity on the Storm and that Telus should be releasing it just in time for Christmas or shortly after Verizon. Furthermore they can’t confirm that Bell will even be getting the device at all. Continue Reading

News of the BlackBerry Storm RIM’s first touch screen smartphone is everywhere. Today (unconfirmed) news that Vodafone will be the exclusive carrier for RIM’s Storm. Another interesting tidbit is that RIM will be ditching the Thunder name as we previously talked about and running with a global name of “Storm”.

The BlackBerry Storm is expected to be available from Vodafone late October. No official word from Vodafone has been released yet.

Mac users to get Desktop Manager next year?

Mac users to get Desktop Manager next year?

Myself I’ve been a long time Mac user, but have always done my backups on a PC. Finally it appears that RIM might actually be doing something to help out Mac users. A source has reported to CIO.com that RIM is working on plans to either develop a Mac verison of their Desktop Manager software or work with third party companies to provide the same features as a PC would have. The new software is expected to be seen sometime during the first half of 2009.

I have to say that if this is true I really hope RIM brings out their own version of DTM as I’m sick of dual-booting my Mac just to do backups and OS upgrades.

Where should I start with this article posted today by the Globe and Mail

The article published in Today’s paper talks about RIM’s new Pearl Flip as a game changer for the North American market. Then they started talking about RIM’s upcoming first touch screen BlackBerry. According to the Globe and Mail RIM will release the BlackBerry Thunder and also a “a second device which features both a touch-screen interface as well as a slide-out QWERTY keypad [...] known as Storm” anyone else think thats weird? We do know that RIM filed a patent a long time ago for a slide-out keyboard, however the Storm will NOT be this device. Continue Reading
