BlackBerry Storm 2 heading to Verizon & Best Buy on October 25th?

blackberry-storm2-bestbuy

It’s no secret that the BlackBerry Storm 2 (9550) will be launching sometime this year. Well it seems that Best Buy has listed the Storm 2 in their internal inventory system as launching on October 25th. If this turns out to be true we would see an official launch from Verizon either late October or early November. My guess is that they may want to wait until November to release the Storm 2, as the original Storm was launch in November. But who knows…

This is one closer step for those looking to get their hands on a Storm 2! Looks like Verizon may have it in time for the holiday season. We’re still awaiting word on releases from the Canadian networks… Stay tuned for more details when we get them.

Rumor: Verizon launching OS 4.7.1.42 for BlackBerry Tour?

logo-verizon

Boy Genius has received a tip that they aren’t too sure about… Apparently the tip says that Verizon will be releasing an updated OS for the BlackBerry Tour, however it seems like a very minor update. The OS which the tipster claims Verizon will release is 4.7.1.42 compared to the .40 that ships on the device. Apparently the last known internally tested OS at RIM was 4.7.1.58, so we are hoping that Verizon releases something a little newer… But I guess all we can do is sit back and wait.

Confirmed: Verizon to score BlackBerry Curve 8530 in two colors

vzw8530

Confirmation of sorts has arrived that Verizon will be launching the BlackBerry Curve 8530, in two colors. The folks at BerryScoop have recevied a image of Verizon’s inventory system showing off the the two skus. Verizon will get the 8530 in both Black and Lavender. The skus are only for dummy (display) phones, so we don’t have any official word on pricing or even a launch date yet. Stay tuned for more info when we get it…

IDC Confirms What We All Know, BlackBerry Rules!

blackberry-vs-iphone[1]

The Research and Consulting firm, IDC, listed the top-selling smartphone models in the US. It lists vendor sales to carriers and channels as well. So far it’s going on preliminary data. The actual numbers won’t be available till the end of the month. So let’s see what the firm says so far.

No 10 is the HTC Touch from Sprint, Nextel, and Verizon Wireless.

No 9 is the HTC Touch Pro from Sprint, Verizon Wireless, AT&T, and others.

No 8 is the Palm Pre from Sprint.

No 7 is the T-Mobile G1 by HTC from T-Mobile USA.

No 6 is the Research In Motion BlackBerry Storm from Verizon Wireless.

No 5 is the Research In Motion BlackBerry Bold from AT&T.

No 4 is the Apple iPhone 3G (both versions) from AT&T.

No 3 is the Research In Motion BlackBerry Pearl (all 81xx series, excluding the Flip) from AT&T, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, T-Mobile, and others.

No 2 is the Apple iPhone 3GS (both versions) from AT&T.

No 1 is the Research In Motion BlackBerry Curve (83xx series and 8900) from AT&T, T-Mobile, Sprint, Verizon Wireless, and others.

So what does that say? Research In Motion rules the smartphone world, and the BlackBerry Curve is still holding the number one position. I’m not surprised, though I’m very curious to see how the numbers change with the BlackBerry Tour 9630 entering the smartphone scene. I really like the Tour, it’s been very reliable, and I’m curious to see if it will rise to the top or come pretty close.

Anyone have any thoughts to share?

BlackBerry Thunder shows up in Verizon Inventory… Again?!

vzw-thunder-1

It look as though another screen shot of Verizon’s system has surfaced, this time it’s a name we haven’t heard in a while. It seems that the BlackBerry Thunder name might be making a return internally. Some sources think it may be a place holder for the upcoming BlackBerry 9950 (Storm 2). Is that in fact what it is? What do you think? Maybe it is a device we haven’t even heard of yet. The possibilities are endless, we can only hope more information is soon to follow.
