BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac Gets In-Depth Preview!

blackberry-desktop-manager-mac-11

Woot! Was the first thing that came to mind when I saw this morning. Boy Genius got his hands on a pre-release version of BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac. While it should be available from RIM shortly, Boy Genius is showing us what its packing. Apparently DTM for Mac runs way better than the version for Windows computers, but one of the biggest set backs is that this application will only be able to install OS’ released by RIM, due to no installation files being available for OS X. Anyway check out the full preview here.

The Berry Electric: A New Theme For The BlackBerry Tour by NinjaThemes

Capture on 08-16-2009 15-20-04

Introducing The Berry Electric for the Tour. NinjaThemes has some really sharp themes which are nothing short of eye catching and detailed icons which never slow your OS down. This theme in particular shows your love for BlackBerry and even has a place for your weather icon.

The Berry Electic v1.0 is normally $2.99 but is on sale in the BlackBerry Sync Store for only $.99 until August 16th. His logo is who says simple can’t be sexy, but in looking at the theme it’s far from looking simple, even though it’s simple to navigate.

Features include:

  • Bottom Dock (user-defined)
  • Vista-inspired icons with sharp detail
  • Hidden Today Preview area – 4 Entries (Available on 9630/9000/8900 Blackberry devices only)
  • “Weather” Icon slot (NOTE: APP NOT INCLUDED)
  • “Shelved” Application icons screen and Incoming Call screen
  • A battery pull is strongly recommended after installing a new theme.

The theme will also display your weekly events if calendar is on the bottom dock and you scroll over it. I really like the way it takes all the icons and “shelves them”. Just look at the pictures and note the details.

The detailed theme runs smooth. and I like the way the main screen resembles the BlackBerry App World Icon on a background similar to the Verizon Tour backing of the phone. The battery displays on the top left side and the date in the top middle. The GPS and coverage availability sit in the top right hand. On the bottom left hand side of the top bar displays the time and the alarm icon if alarm is set. Keyboard locked displays The main screen with a big lock in the bottom right. Now to be noted, it does NOT include a weather app. If you don’t have one, don’t worry, you have a few choices such as BerryWeather 1.5 With Radar Maps and GPS from the BlackBerry Sync Store for $9.95 . So make sure you have a weather app and go download The Berry Electric and enjoy! Nice work NinjaThemes, thanks so much!

You can download The Berry Electric for $.99 till Aug 16th from the BlackBerry Sync Store here >

BlackBerry Tour 9630 Theme From MMMOOO: Snow Leopard 9600

Snow Leopar

MMMOOO has released a few new themes for the BlackBerry Tour, one of which I’m highlighting. It’s the Snow Leopard 9600. The theme is colorful, brilliant and resembles the iPhone, with that Alaskan feel of the aurora borealis and the eagle stamps.  I love the star splashed sky and the icons how neatly they are arranged.

Review: The Time Machine By MMMOOO

Display

This is about having the time of your life in your hands. We live in a hustle and bustle world, always on the go. Calendar works fine, but I know many of us use a countdown clock on our computers, our websites, etc. Time Machine is similar to that. It keeps track of time to the second.

Gwabbit Has Updated The Gwabbit Recognition Engine

ScreenHunter_05May.3110.32_thumb[1]

Gwabbit has been busy, and they have assured us and thanked us for feedback which they are listening to and reading. For those of you who aren’t familiar with Gwabbit, it is a life and time saver literally. If you get quite a bit of business emails, it’s like a virtual secretary that is ready to add the contact from your email to your contact book, with your permission of course.

The app is fast and convenient. Bugs Bunny wasn’t this fast, trust me. I’ve used it and reviewed it and find it absolutely amazing. And the best part? You can find it in the BlackBerry Sync Store for $9.99 a yearly subscription. You have to love that! Of the improvements made, here are the improved features:

The engine now correctly handles the text added by anti-virus programs such as AVG
The Improve Results feature (gwabbit for Outlook) is greatly improved, now recognizing a much higher percentage of contact blocks
Better recognition of non-US phone numbers and non-US addresses
Better recognition and parsing of HTML emails, taking into account the formatting of the signature block, including stylized text
Improved handling for new varieties of signature structures, based on the feedback submitted
Better separation of the “thread” (older email in the same conversation) so as to more accurately identify contact information of the sender. This improvement is especially noticeable in gwabbit for BlackBerry
Overall improved recognition

  • gwabbit for Outlook also available
  • gwabbit automatically scans emails for signature contacts and alerts user when it finds a contact
  • No tedious manual contact “painting” required
  • The gwabbit alert prompts the user to import the contact with one click, or click “No Thanks” to ignore the contact
  • gwabbit compares contacts with address book entries — only displays contact alert when a new contact is found or if contact information has changed
  • Option to turn off automatic email scan/alert and instead capture contacts with the “gwabbit” menu option
  • gwabbit for BlackBerry Enterprise Server coming soon!
