HOT! BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac Leaked!

bbtour-mac-dtm

Attn Mac Users! The long awaited, heavily anticipated BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac has been leaked! This version has not been officially released by RIM, and is in beta still. An official release of this software should be coming very soon, but until then give this a try.

Please keep in mind because this software is a beta version: It might still have a few glitches, but it shouldn’t hurt to test it out. However please keep in mind this software is un-supported by RIM, and by installing it neither RIM, not this site are responsible for any issues caused by this software.

Facebook 1.7 coming to BlackBerry… Maybe with OS 5.0?

facebook1.7-13

Word on the street is that a newer version of Facebook for BlackBerry is getting ready for launch. Apparently Facebook 1.7 will allow you to filter results (from status changes, new pictures, etc.), as well improves loading times for many pages. It’s also being reported that Facebook 1.7 for BlackBerry may launch just in time for the OS 5.0 launch. We’ve received tips about Facebook 1.7 being available for RIM employees to test on OS 5.0 devices, such as the BlackBerry Bold, Curve 8900, Tour and Storm. Unfortunately we don’t have more details than that for now, but stay tune as it might launch later this month.

RIM releases official details about BIS 2.8 update – Will bring Google Contact Sync & More!

blackberry_logo__black

We first heard about BIS 2.8 launch last week, and now RIM has released official details about it’s launch. BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) version 2.8 will launch early to mid September, and will feature Google contacts synchronization, and will also no longer require Hotmail/Windows Live users to re-validate their passwords every 90 days. So keep checking in with us and we will let you know when it launches!

  • Google Contact Synchronization: If subscribers integrate a Google Mail™ account with their BlackBerry® Internet Service account, they can synchronize contacts between the account and the contacts application on their BlackBerry device. Subscribers can add, change, and delete Google Mail contacts from their device or from their Google Mail account and the BlackBerry Internet Service synchronizes the changes.
  • Enhancements to email setup and settings: Automatic Login now supports most billing identifiers, which allows new subscribers with wireless service providers that use PIN, IMEI, or ESN as a billing identifier to create BlackBerry Internet Service accounts from the BlackBerry smartphone, without having to create a login user name and password
    • Note: This feature will be available approximately one week after the BlackBerry Internet Service upgrade.
  • Windows Live™ Hotmail® revalidation: With BlackBerry Internet Service 2.8, new Windows Live Hotmail mail integrations will be defaulted to a protocol that is designed so as not to require 90 day reauthorization.
  • Note: Existing BlackBerry smartphone users accessing Windows Live Hotmail using Microsoft® MSP will still be required to revalidate their Windows Live Hotmail account every 90 days.

Review: Slyde For BlackBerry By NinjaThemes

slydefullbat

One of the popular unique theme designers, NinjaThemes, has a great theme out called Slyde. It’s clever, sharp, and has a very futuristic, metallic, and tech-like feel to it. NinjaThemes puts emphasis on his themes being easy on the phone, but yet stylish and different. Slyde is definitely one of my fave themes available for the Tour so far.

Pacman BB

Great news for Pacman lovers! BlackBerry OS announced a free version of Pacman for the BlackBerry. And I have to admit, it’s just like the arcade version. It comes complete with a high score list, mp3 sounds, and support for trackball and keyboard. It’s available for the Tour on down to the Pearl, but unfortunately the Storm is not included.

Update: Slacker Radio Now Updated To Slacker Radio v2.0.45

Slacker

It’s time for another update, but this is one we’re sure you’re going to appreciate if you enjoy Slacker Radio. Improvements have been added making the Slacker use even better. For one thing, battery life has been improved while listening to the radio. For those of us who have a Tour, we’re sure you’re going to love that.

Improvements and changes include:

Battery life improved by twice as much as previous versions of Slacker while streaming.

Improved usability enhancements to the interface, and that’s including a “home” button to quickly access the station list.

The added ability to toggle the explicit content filter to be off and on from the main menu.

Addressed an issue caused when you placed a song on pause for an extended amount of time, and then Slacker would not properly playback the song when you were ready.

Also addressed the issue where if you received a call or message, that it would pause and then not properly resume, this was an issue that affected some users.

So what are you waiting for? If you like Slacker, stop slacking and get to downloading.

Upcoming BIS 2.8 Features – Two way Google Contact Sync & Tons More!

bis-login-2

Our buddy Ronen from BerryReview just let me know that one of his secret agents dug up some great dirt. Dirt you ask? Well it’s about RIM’s upcoming BlackBerry Internet Service (BIS) update, version 2.8. The new version will bring several features including much needed Google Mail Contact sync, meaning anyone in your Gmail address book will sync with your device, plus Hotmail/Windows Live users will NOT have to re-validate their Hotmail passwords every 90 days (finally). BIS 2.8 is scheduled to rollout sometime next month, but we all know how RIM loves delays. Stay tuned for more details…

What’s new in 2.8:

  • Two-way wireless synchronization with Google Mail Contacts* and the Address Book on the BlackBerry smart phone:
    • Synchronize Google Mail contacts quickly and easily to the BlackBerry smart phone
    • Add or edit Contacts and the Contacts are automatically updated, whether they are updated on the computer or BlackBerry smart phone
    • The documentation says this is scheduled to sync every 4 hours and will not work on BlackBerry Connect devices. It also will obviously not work on BES contacts or even Google Mail Contact Groups whatever those are.

  • Enhancements to email setup and settings:
    • Automatic Login now supports most billing identifiers, which allows new subscribers with wireless service providers that use PIN, IMEI, or ESN as a billing identifier to create BlackBerry Internet Service accounts from the BlackBerry smart phone, without having to create a login user name and password
    • Note: This feature will be available approximately one week after the BlackBerry Internet Service upgrade.
  • Windows Live Hotmail revalidation:
    • With BlackBerry Internet Service 2.8, new Windows Live Hotmail mail integrations will be defaulted to a protocol that is designed so as not to require 90 day reauthorization.
    • Note: Existing BlackBerry smart phone users accessing Windows Live Hotmail using Microsoft MSP will still be required to revalidate their Windows Live Hotmail account every 90 days.

*Note: Two-way wireless Contact synchronization with Google Mail Contacts requires BlackBerry® Device Software 5.0 and configuration through email settings on the BlackBerry smart phone.  Additional requirements and constraints may be found within the BlackBerry Internet Service 2.8 Documentation Kit. This feature is not supported on BlackBerry smart phones with BlackBerry® Connect™ software.
