Differences between Pre-Release Tour 9630 and Official Tour 9630

two-tour

I logged into YouTube today and noticed that I’ve been watching a lot of videos on the unreleased Tour 9630 (go figure!). Anyway one of them was titlied “My 2nd BlackBerry Tour just arrived” and I was thinking to myself how come he gets two? Anyway the guy in the video goes on to show differences between a pre-release 9630 and un-branded carrier 9630. It looks like RIM decided to make a few minor changes. Oh not only that but he also adds a little surprise at the end of the video… Not sure to sure what that means just yet. Skip over on the see the video.

BlackBerry Tour 9630 Promo Materials Leak from Bell

bell-tour1

Who’s excited for the BlackBerry 9630? Well if you are you might enjoy this. It appears that Bell is getting one step closer to a launch of the Tour 9630. New marketing materials have been leaked which show a bell branded BlackBerry Tour with a full spec list instead. We haven’t really learned anything new about the device and obviously Bell hasn’t given any real release dates. Bell won’t be the only ones jumping on the Tour, both Telus and Verizon will launch the 9630 within the next little bit.

With the leaking of this marketing material when do you think the 9630 will launch? June or July?

Fido to pick up BlackBerry Curve 8320 this July… for $50

fido-leak-13

Looks like Rogers is finally ready to let the leash loose on Fido. In a leaked presentation that shows Fido’s upcoming handsets the ole faithful BlackBerry Curve 8320 was shown. The 8320 should show up for about $50 with three year contract (with voice and data plan). It’s expected to launch on or around July 13th. This means Fido will be getting a semi-newer BlackBerry to replace their dead before it even launched Pearl 8100. Oh and in case there is any iPhone fans here apparently Fido will be getting a smaller 4GB iPhone (Nano?) as well.

Oh by the way Fido… What happened to launching the Pearl Flip 8220?

Verizon to launch BlackBerry Tour, Storm 2, Pre & others within 6 months…

verizon-logo

An article posted by Reuters today says that Verizon announced during a webcast that they will carrying several new smartphones within the next six months. The list included the BlackBerry Storm 2, which is expceted to feature a new generation touch screen from RIM, as well the Palm Pre, several Android powered smartphones and the highly anticipated BlackBerry Tour 9630. So it looks like we might just see the next generation Storm in time for Christmas of this year!

“Over the next six months or so you will see devices like Palm Pre and a second generation Storm” on the Verizon Wireless network, McAdam said. “You can expect to see us launch a steady stream of new devices from multiple vendors.”

What do you think of this news? Does the idea of Storm 2 excite you? or Are you holding for something better?

No Facebook 1.6 today… maybe next month.

facebook-logo

Looks like the anticipated launch of Facebook v. 1.6 might be a little delayed. We just received a tip that RIM has delayed the launch to fix up some issues. Hopefully this time RIM won’t launch a broken version like they did with 1.5. We aren’t too sure on a release date for the new version just yet, but its expected sometime next month. Stay tuned for more details.

RIM CEO says SurePress is here to stay, No comment on Storm 2.

rim-d7-006

Interesting news developed today during an interview at D7, when RIM CEO Mike Lazaridis was asked about the “rumors” on the internet that the next gen Storm will not click, he said “We don’t comment on rumors. But SurePress is here to stay”. This is interesting news considering the recently leaked photos of the Storm 2 show a non-clicking display. Could this mean that RIM will introduce several new Storm models this year? Possibly one with SurePress (clicking) and one with TruePress (non-clicking)? I guess we will have to sit back and see…

What do you think? Will RIM introduce a SurePress and TruePress model?

Engadget got a hold of supposedly a leaked presentation showing off some upcoming BlackBerry devices. This presentation shows the highly rumored BlackBerry Magnum, Onyx, Pearl 3G and Gemini are all heading to AT&T this year. Now I’m not to sure if these slides are official or not. If AT&T did make these they should really look at how to properly type BlackBerry (not Blackberry). You can check out the slides below and here is a recap of the specs:

  • BlackBerry Magnum: Full QWERTY keyboard with touchscreen, Optical trackpad, 3G UMTS, HSDPA, Quadband GSM, Wi-Fi, GPS and HVGA display.
  • BlackBerry Oynx: 3G UMTS, HSDPA, Quadband GSM, HVGA Display with 480×360 resolution, trackball navigation, 3.2 megapixel camera with autofocus, GPS and Wi-Fi.
  • BlackBerry Pearl “Next Generation 3G Model”: 3G, UMTS, HSDPA, Quadband GSM, Suretype keyboard, trackball navigation and aGPS. No sign of Wi-Fi…
  • BlackBerry Gemini: Quadband GSM, QWERTY keyboard, Trackball (?) navigation, 2.0 megapixel camera with no flash, and media keys.
