blackberry9990sm

An interesting photo popped up on CrackBerry this morning. It’s a photo of OS 5.7.0.151  on what appears to be the un-announced BlackBerry Storm 2. Some people seem to think of the BlackBerry 9990 is the new model for the un-announced BlackBerry Storm 2, which should be launching October/November. No one can seem to confirm if this OS in fact real, of if somone is having some photoshop fun. You might want to check out the full discussion on CrackBerry Forums for the full details…

What do you think… Photoshop or actual OS?

BlackBerry Curve 8520 gets Sold (Early) and Unboxed!

The BlackBerry Curve 8520 is yet to be released for public sale, however it seems one Walmart decided to sell them early. The poster of this video got his hands on the 8520 from his local store, for the smooth price of $48.88 with contract, apparently it will be $349.99 without contract. The official release of the Curve 8520 will be Wednesday August 5th. So everyone else should be able to get them in stores and online on or around that date. Also don’t mind the guys annoying habit of chewing gum while recording the video…

Canadian Carriers using Special RIM Devices for HSPA+ Network Testing

sim-cardI was reading an article by Ronen from BerryReview, when I received a similar tip in my inbox. Rogers Wireless recently announced they would begin upgrading their current 3G (HSPA) network to a faster 21mbps speed. Well apparently Rogers is using special RIM devices to test out the new faster network, which should launch starting August. I just received a tip from a ninja who says Telus is also using special RIM smartphones to test their upcoming HSPA network, that’s expected to roll out across Canada soon. We can only assume that Bell is also using RIM devices to test their HSPA network as well, due to their partnership for building the network with Telus. Neither ninjas are sure if or when RIM plans to make a consumer ready device that will run North American HSPA frequencies anytime soon, but we hope they do sooner than later. If anyone has pictures of these devices feel free to send them to us. ;)

BlackBerry Onyx 9020 spotted in the Wild Sporting Leather Back!

Onyx_2

New pictures have been found online of the un-released BlackBerry Onyx 9020. The site FeedBerry is showing off the Onyx (with trackball, not trackpad) sporting a leather back similar to the BlackBerry Bold. Could this mean that RIM has decided to make the Onyx part of the Bold family? We don’t really have any new details on the Onyx, although its expected to be a slim 3G/Quadband GSM device with a 3.2 megapixel camera, large 480×360 resolution display, Wi-Fi, and GPS. We do expect the Onyx to launch sometime this year, however an official date is no where to be found. See the rest of the pictures at FeedBerry.

BlackBerry Thunder shows up in Verizon Inventory… Again?!

vzw-thunder-1

It look as though another screen shot of Verizon’s system has surfaced, this time it’s a name we haven’t heard in a while. It seems that the BlackBerry Thunder name might be making a return internally. Some sources think it may be a place holder for the upcoming BlackBerry 9950 (Storm 2). Is that in fact what it is? What do you think? Maybe it is a device we haven’t even heard of yet. The possibilities are endless, we can only hope more information is soon to follow.

It’s going to be a feature packed device sporting OS 5.0 and a high resolution 360×480 display. But wait there’s more! Boy Genius is reporting that the North American GSM model (9520) will be part of the Storm 2 family, and make its way to AT&T and Rogers with a 3G radio. Both models (9550 and 9520) should be heading across the World later this year.

onyx-with-trackpad-lrg

When the BlackBerry Onyx first showed its face on the internet, it was orginally sporting RIM’s classic trackball. It was rumored that RIM was thinking about putting the new optical trackpad into this device code-named “Onyx” and it seems that they did. New pictures have surfaced online showing the Onyx’s new touchpad and it looks hot! This means the Onyx will be packing a sexy new compact design with 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G radio, Wi-Fi and GPS all in one. Still no word on when it will be officially released, but stay tuned.

BlackBerry Storm OS 5.0.0.92 Gets Hands-On Preview

blackberry-storm-os-5_12

We all know that RIM is working on OS 5.0 for many devices, including the BlackBerry Storm.  A German blog has got the first hands on pictures of the BlackBerry Storm 9500 running OS 5.0.0.92. While this OS will be RIM’s next generation opertaing system, it really doesn’t look any different from the current 4.7 running on the Storm. OS 5.0 will bring some new features and apps (such as BlackBerry Messenger 2.0).

See all the screenshots here.
