Apparently people have been getting flyers that show the newly released BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the unreleased BlackBerry Pearl 8220 (Formally known as Kickstart). It’s a little weird that RIM would let Rogers advertise the Pearl 8220 as they haven’t even announced it yet. This could mean that its release will be coming this week at CTIA or sooner.
Pricing looks to be similar to the flyer that was leaked back in August by CrackBerry. It will ring in at $149.99 with three year contract.

Great news has just arrived from the Boy Genius! It seems that the BlackBerry Storm 9530 (formally known as Thunder) has been moved into Technical Acceptance by Verizon. This means that usually devices in this process are 3-4 weeks away. However the device may be delayed internally by RIM for an additional 3-4 weeks. This will give them enough time to work out all of the kinks (ie. the touch screen) but with any luck at all we may see it sometime in November.
As always stay tuned for more information!!

So most of you are still rocking RIM’s OS 4.5 and lower (unless you got your hands on a Bold, then you have 4.6). BBCool is reporting that RIM’s next up BlackBerry Javelin, which is the Curve replacement will be running OS 4.7. This new version of RIM’s OS will look a lot like the BlackBerry Bold’s OS, however its expected to give support for 16GB Micro SD cards and an updated version of the full HTML browser. The new browser should fix all errors users are currently having when browsing sites loaded with Javascripts.
OS 4.7 should make its debut on RIM’s first touchscreen smartphone, the BlackBerry Thunder/Storm later this year as well.

As of October 1st Rogers Wireless will introduce new data plans to replace their crazy 6GB for $30 a month. A recent study by Rogers indicates that 95% of iPhone 3G users use less than 500MB of data every month. Becuase of this Rogers will introduce new data plans as follows:
$15 - 2MB
$25 - 500 MB
$30 - 1GB
$60 - 3GB
$80 - 8GB
A few interesting notes about these new packages: All new clients will receive 3 months of “Freedom of Data” allowing unlimited usage for the first three months to see which data plan they really need. Also all of these new plans include tethering, Clients will be notified by SMS when they have used all of their available data, Overages are now capped at $100/month so no one will get any crazy phone bills.
So we recommend that you pick up Rogers current $30 a month for 6GB on data with your new BlackBerry Bold!!

Could this be real? A limited edition BlackBerry Bold or someones custom paint job? I don’t get why somone would paint such a beautiful device. Maybe some people will like it but black on red with leather back? It just doesn’t look right in my opinion. This image appeared over at HowardForums this morning and all I can say is I hope RIM doesn’t plan a ton of funky colors for this premier Business model.
What do you all think? Should RIM introduced colored BlackBerry Bolds?

Let’s call this headline: Boy Genius Report vs. Gizmodo. Two different reports went out today both talking about AT&T launching the BlackBerry Bold 9000. B.G. seems to think that the Bold will launch anytime between October 2-6th. Gizmodo thinks the Bold will launch on September 12th (according to AT&T employees?). Gizmodo reports the price will be around $299 with contract. Which side are you with?

Expansys seems to love outing RIM’s unreleased handsets lately. Just a few weeks ago they were showing the BlackBerry Thunder as coming soon. This time Expansys is showing RIM’s unannounced BlackBerry Kickstart aka Pearl 8220 and 8210 as coming soon. They also list that both models of the Kickstart will sport PTT (Push to Talk). The Kickstart 8210 of course will be the GPS verison and 8220 will be the Wi-Fi version.
Head on over to Expansys for details…
P.S. RIM announce this damn phone already!!!

Ever wonder how big the upcoming BlackBerry Javelin is compared to other BlackBerry smartphones? Well someone over at HoFo posted an image comparing the un-released Javelin to a BlackBerry Curve and 8800. This thin BlackBerry will basically be the 3G-less version of the new BlackBerry Bold. It will be released sometime later this year for GSM carriers. Stay tuned for more details when they arrive!

This is great news for Telus customers! The latest word is that Telus will be getting an exclusive on the highly anticpated touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder 9500. This means that Telus would join Verizon and Vodafone for a World Wide exclusive. Apparently the rumor has been confirmed by three separate sources, including one from the Globe and Mail stating “On the other hand, Telus is expected to launch (exclusively) a new touch screen BlackBerry this fall, which could steal some of the Bold’s Thunder, albeit temporarily.” in an article called “10 Reasons to Buy Rogers“.
It is expected that the Thunder will launch sometime in October (possibly Oct. 8th) on Verizon and hopefully Telus.
