Romania scores Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Curve 8320

Also today in International news, Orange Romania and RIM have announced the release of the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Curve 8320. The BlackBerry Curve 8320 features a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.0 megapixel camera, stereo Bluetooth, microSD memory card slot and Wi-Fi 802.11b/g.

RIM announces third qurater earnings

RIM logoBlackBerry creator, Research In Motion (RIM) has announced their Q3 earnings which we're fairly impressive. RIM has brought their revenue up 22% bringing it to $1.67 Billion dollars from $1.37 Billion. RIM's revenue was based on approximately 80% for devices, 14% for service, 4% for software and 2% for other revenue. They joined approximately 1.65 million new subscriber accounts and shipped approximately 3.9 million devices. Click on over for the full press release.

China finally meets BlackBerry

Well its about time but Research In Motion (RIM) and Alcatel-Lucent have signed an agreement for the distribuation of BlackBerry handhelds in China. The first BlackBerry smartphone to ship to China will be the classic BlackBerry 8700, then most likely followed by some newer models. 

“Following our launch of the BlackBerry service with China Mobile, we are very pleased to now enter this smartphone distribution agreement with Alcatel-Lucent and Alcatel Shanghai Bell. Our partnership with Alcatel-Lucent has been very productive in other regions and has been key in our progress to import smartphones into the Chinese market,” said Jim Balsillie, Co-CEO of Research In Motion. “The BlackBerry platform offers robust and unmatched benefits for enterprise customers that wish to enhance mobile productivity and competitive advantage. We look forward to building on the early interest and momentum we are experiencing in China with both multinational and domestic corporations.”

Introducing the Wi-Fi enabled BlackBerry Pearl (8120) for Spain

RIM's had a busy week! Today they have announced the newly upgraded BlackBerry Pearl 8120. The new BlackBerry Pearl 8120 (formally known as Pearl 2 to the online world) features a newly upgraded interface, a upgraded 2.0 megapixel camera and most notably Wi-Fi for wireless internet access.

So far the only carrier to formally announce the release of this new Pearl is Telefonica in Spain. Within the next few weeks you should some other carriers around the world announce its release. You should see AT&T, T-Mobile and Rogers all announce it soon. Meanwhile Telefonica puts the Pearl 8120 on sale starting today.

RIM introduces the first CDMA BlackBerry Pearl (8130)

On this first day of October RIM has finally decided to bring us the first ever CDMA Pearl. The BlackBerry Pearl 8130 will come packing highspeed EVDO data along with GPS, a 3.5mm headphones jack, microSD memory card slot, stereo Bluetooth (AD2P) and a 2.0 megapixel camera with video capture.  

The new Pearl 8130 gives several upgrades to the Pearl series including a new software interface, streaming video support and the upgraded camera plus integrated GPS just like the 8830. So within the next few weeks we should see upcoming releases on both Verizon and Sprint in the United States and Telus in Canada (and possibly Bell). Discuss the CDMA Pearl on our forums.

Research In Motion (RIM) got around today to launching the long awaited BlackBerry 8820. The 8820 has the same design as the BlackBerry 8800 only brings Wi-Fi 802.11  a/b/g to the device. Just like any other 8800 series it features the sleek business-like design, full QWERTY keyboard, GPS, microSD memory card slot, Quadband GSM and EDGE. 

One Unique feature about the 8820 besides the Wi-Fi is the microSD / microSDHC combo slot. The microSDHC is a high capacity microSD slot which will allow up to 32GB of storage.
