Find a list of BlackBerry Apps from RIM

Every wonder where you can find all the BlackBerry approved applications and services for your device? A site that RIM has called BlackBerry Lifestyle lists a ton of applications that are built for BlackBerry. You can find everything from Facebook to Bank of America to XM Radio. Check out the entire list at at BlackBerry.com. It seems that the list is only computer friendly and doesn’t load well on your BlackBerry.

I wonder if RIM will integrate this into some sort of Application store?

RIM captures 10% of U.S. handset market

RIM captures 10% of U.S. handset market

A report in the Vancouver Sun explains that Reserach In Motion (RIM) has captured 10% of the United States market. The report which was done by Strategy Analytics says mobile phone shipments were up 5.3% to nearly 42 million handsets. RIM took 10.3% of that total. One of my favorite lines in the report is the beginning:

Amid a daily flurry of leaked details behind Research In Motion Ltd.’s coming BlackBerry lineup from the blogosphere, the Canadian tech giant received a shot in the arm Monday after a U.K.-based research firm said its U.S. mobile device market share crossed the 10-per-cent threshold for the first time.”

Telus to get EXCLUSIVE Canadian rights to BlackBerry Thunder

Telus to get EXCLUSIVE Canadian rights to BlackBerry Thunder

This is great news for Telus customers! The latest word is that Telus will be getting an exclusive on the highly anticpated touchscreen BlackBerry Thunder 9500. This means that Telus would join Verizon and Vodafone for a World Wide exclusive. Apparently the rumor has been confirmed by three separate sources, including one from the Globe and Mail stating “On the other hand, Telus is expected to launch (exclusively) a new touch screen BlackBerry this fall, which could steal some of the Bold’s Thunder, albeit temporarily.” in an article called “10 Reasons to Buy Rogers“.

It is expected that the Thunder will launch sometime in October (possibly Oct. 8th) on Verizon and hopefully Telus.

BIS 2.5 arrives to North America (with HTML email, OTA updates and attachments)

The good news is RIM implemented BIS 2.5 late last night/early this morning for North America. The upgrade brings access to HTML email, OTA (Over the Air) software updates, push email for Hotmail, MSN, Live and AOL email and the ability to now download a ton of attachment formats (doc, .ppt, .xls, .wpd, .txt, .html, .pdf, .zip). You won't be able to get HTML emails until OS 4.5 is installed on your BlackBerry.

The bad news is that most BlackBerry smartphones won't be running OS 4.5 till around September, unless RIM releases any new smartphones before then (which they will run 4.5).
