I’ve been using and playing with the beta since the end of last month, and I like the way it works. It’s free so it avoids a quick call or text, and maybe it’s something you don’t want to type. The voice messages are very clear and unlike some apps, this one is the simplest I’ve seen yet.

The official and free BlackBerry Traffic app has been updating in the BlackBerry Beta Zone and now that very version is available in the BlackBerry App World for everyone to download. What does this version contain? We’re going to share the updates with you, so keep reading for details.

I don’t know about you, but this has been the version I’ve been waiting for. Over the air directions to accompany the app. I’m really happy with this version, now if more voices could be added, it would be perfect. BlackBerry Traffic beta v3.0 has been updated in the BlackBerry Beta Zone for those who’ve missed it. This version of Traffic is really nice as it includes over the air turn by turn directions, which we’ve all been hoping for. So what’s new with this update?

The fixes included with this update are:

• *Fixed* Guidance Options: wording changed to “Standard-quality Audio (2.5x larger data download)” and “High-quality Audio (10x larger data download)”
• *Fixed* Battery Consumption: periodic timers disabled when in background and in arrived state.

I’m a little late reporting this one but Twitter has been updated in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. If you haven’t registered yet, there’s no better time than now. It’s free and so are the beta apps you can beta test. What’s new with Twitter?

Some fixes were applied with this release, including:

• *Fixed* Timeline – Freezing while scrolling
• *Fixed* Timeline – Loading icon remains on screen, new items do not appear
• *Fixed* Touch screen – Retry button does not respond to touch

I don’t know about you, but I know I’ve been waiting for this and asking for the features BlackBerry is implementing in the beta. I was so excited to see BlackBerry announcing the Traffic beta on Twitter and Facebook. So what’s new that I’m so happy about?

I’ve used BlackBerry Traffic since the beta began, and I’ve been pretty impressed with it. Each update works better, and with all the features the app contains, it’s a great feature and addition to your BlackBerry device. Everytime a survey came out in the Beta Zone, I’d ask for turn by turn directions. Some OS for other platforms do it, and I would love to see my BlackBerry have that capability. BlackBerry announced their latest BlackBerry Traffic Beta and here are the latest features:

• Voice Guidance – New voice guidance helps users reach their destination with completely hands free navigation. The audible-turn-by-turn directions can run over Bluetooth® or via your vehicle’s speakers. Users can set up the voice instructions with varying levels of detail.
• Additional Road Information – User can find out if a road is closed or under construction as well as note toll routes that lie ahead!

The Facebook for BlackBerry Beta v2.0 includes a hotfix for the BlackBerry app. If you use Facebook, you can download the latest beta version from the BlackBerry Beta Zone. This update is only available in the BlackBerry Beta Zone. If you haven’t signed up for the BlackBerry Beta Zone, now’s the time to do so. It’s free and allows you to give your feedback to BlackBerry. What’s been fixed?

This is the fix included:

A new hotfix is now available for the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0 application. This hotfix is a maintenance release which includes general fixes to the infrastructure of the Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v2.0 application.

You can still download the official app out of BlackBerry App World, but if you like checking out the latest in apps, the beta always makes it even more interesting. So what’s fixed with the updated beta?

• @Mention – No notification of @mentions from users you are not following
• @Mention – The @mention notification in the message app does not clear
• @Mention – Splat on Mentions icon is hard to clear if you happen to be on the Mentions screen when the push notification arrives
• Options – Reordering of top two option items
• Virtual Keyboard – When composing a new Tweet or reply, the virtual ‘Tweet’ and ‘reply’ buttons do not activate

The Twitter Beta is pin locked so you need to sign up with the BlackBerry Beta Zone first.

First off is a new shortcut which has been added to Twitter, which is alt + space to switch accounts, and also included are a few fixes which are:

• *Fixed* Tweet Refresh – Notifies on every Tweet and not according to time specified in application Options
• *Fixed* Social Feeds – Unable to view user profiles of multiple @mentions
• *Fixed* Social Feeds – Cannot respond to a Tweet from selected account
• *Fixed* Universal Search – Message thread does not open
• *Fixed* Messages – Moving cursor to the right in message list causes the list to scoll to the bottom
