Telus bumps downs price of upcoming 8830

Telus has finally got in sync with Bell and lowered their price of the upcoming BlackBerry 8830 World Edition to $299 with three year contract. Before Telus had their 8830 listed at a smashing $499 with contract. While no launch date has been announced apparently they were planning on launching it last week, however RIM recalled the units due to "unknown issues". BlackBerrySync has heard that the units have been recalled due to an issue with the GPS.

Telus 8830 launches June 22nd

Telus has just updated their coming soon page for the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition. It will be launching June 22nd for only $199 with three year contract. Plus you'll get 50% off international data roaming before October 1st for your whole contract. So in case you didn't tune in yesterday. Bell launched their 8830 with the lovely price tag of $299 with three year contract. We knew Telus wouldn't be far behind.

UPDATE: Telus has changed the page back to the old one with the $499 price tag saying "Coming Soon" with no exact date. We imagine that you'll see the new price tag pop up online real soon… Read more to see a screenshot of the old page.

More Telus BlackBerry 8830 details…

As you can tell it keeps getting closer and closer. The BlackBerry 8830 is now plastered all over the Telus web sites. Today we noticed a very large banner on Telus.com saying “BlackBerry 8830 World Edition. Backed by TELUS.” Then when you click for details you get the promo page.

We have new information which tells us the 8830 will be instores next month (June). The price tag still that lovely $499 with three year contract. Stay tuned for more details.

BlackBerrry 8830 on Telus set to cost $499 w/ 3YR term

More confirmed news about Telus Mobility launching the BlackBerry 8830 has struck us. News about the BlackBerry seems to be everywheres around Telus except the public viewable sites. A promo site which was sent to us confirms the actual price on the device on a three contract ($499) which will match Rogers’ 8800 pricing.

The flash presentation shown on the promo site allows users to see the key benefits of the BlackBerry 8830 including International GSM roaming, Bluetooth 2.0, high capicity battery, microSD memory card slot, ultra-bright colour screen, EV-DO high speed data (8x times faster than EDGE), full QWERTY keyboard and trackball.
