Pre-Launch overview of new BlackBerry Pearl series

Ok so we know for a fact that Sprint, Verizon, Telus and Rogers are all getting new BlackBerry Pearl's over the next few months. Even though RIM hasn't formally announced these new devices yet, We've come across some new rumors on the streets.

  • Sprint should be getting their GPS enabled, Wi-Fi less BlackBerry Pearl 8130 sometime by American thanks giving.
  • Verizon is in the same boat as Sprint. They should see their 8130 sometime late October-November.
  • Telus should see the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 with GPS (no Wi-Fi) around the same time as Verizon in the U.S.
  • Rogers should have their GSM BlackBerry Pearl 2 with Wi-Fi sometime right before Christmas. Their device will have Wi-Fi, however we don't believe it will have GPS.

Keep in mind that RIM still hasn't even announced the new Pearl series yet. What we don't have any confirmation on yet is if AT&T or T-Mobile will be picking up the new Pearl 2.

Telus pushes out Rev. A EVDO across Canada

Telus LogoLooks like Telus has been busy pumping out Rev. A across Canada. We thought it would be coming to select Canadian cities first however according to Telus Mobility's website it's showing it available in most major Canadian cities. Also new BlackBerry 8830 clients on Telus should keep their eyes peeled for a software upgrade possibly coming soon to enable it on the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition.

We had a few minutes the other to sit down and check out RIM's new BlackBerry 8830 World Edition from Telus. The first thing we noticed is that like the sprint model it's packing a Qualcomm processor. Overall we haven't reviewed the device yet we are still waiting for ours to be shipped to us. Check out our gallery for a mini unboxing. We hope to have tons more pictures up once our review unit comes in.

Telus to launch BlackBerry 8830 World Edition.. June 29th

Telus branded 8830Alright it's now official. Telus has officially started getting it's employees and clients pumped for the BlackBerry 8830 World Edition. It's now officially listed as one of their phones coming soon. BlackBerry Sync has got all the official documents and pricing and it goes like this:

  • 3 Year Contract (with voice & data plan) $299.99
  • 3 Year Contract (no data) $499.99
  • 2 Year Contract $549.99
  • 1 Year Contract $599.99
  • Month to Month (No Contract) $649.99

From what we get Telus has blocked the GPS part so they can offer their Telus Navigator service. One really neat feature Telus is adding to this device is their Mobile Music Store (which would allow unlimited music downloads for $20). International roaming will cost you an arm and leg, the pricing follows like this: If you sign up before October 1, 2007 you get 50% off international roaming (United States is not included). The rate for international roaming is $51.20/MB CAD but with your 50% off your looking at $25.60 per MB. Ouch.

The BlackBerry 8830 World Edition starts shipping June 29th and should be available just a few days after that in all stores. We aren't sure why it was delayed exactly buy I guess they got all problems fixed for now. Read over for more on the 8830.
