TELUS throws Storm launch party in Toronto!

TELUS defiantly knows how to party. Last night they held a party where most of the large BlackBerry blogs got some sweet hands-on time with the Storm. Unfortunately we aren’t in Toronto are we would have got in on this. It seems that all TELUS demos were runnig OS 4.5.0.76 and it worked great. It seems that a launch from TELUS pretty much immendant their stock may be a little short. Seems it will launch before the holiday season, but tons of stock will arrive shortly after Christmas.

Canadians will the Storm really be nearly $300 w/ 3YR?

Rumors have arrived that both TELUS and Bell in Canada will be selling the BlackBerry Storm for around $299 with a three year term. Bell is said to be offering their Storm for $479-200 (data and voice discount) so $279 with three year term. With Verizon’s Storm coming in at $199.99 with two year term. Does anyone think that Canadians will really buy the Storm at nearly $300 with a three year term?

I think we will have to wait and see what they do officially…

Rounding up all the TELUS Storm Reviews

TELUS had a private event the other day where editors from many popular Canadian blogs got a chance to go hands-on with the BlackBerry Storm. Our friends at MobileSyrup, BlackBerry Cool and HowardChui.com all got to check it out and let everyone know what they thought.

Doug from BBCool posted a written review as well a video showing off the Storm’s copy and paste feature:

Hands-on TELUS BlackBerry Storm Video Review

Our friends over at Mobile Syrup let us know that they got to spend some hands-on time a TELUS BlackBerry Storm. Here’s a blurb from the first part of their review “Overall, in our first review there is not much that we can say needs improving. The speed was good, accelerometer was responsive, music was loud (comes with a 3.5 mm headphone jack), the pictures we good quality and the device as a whole was solid.”

BlackBerry Curve 8350i to churp on TELUS Mike soon?

Our TELUS ninja has reported that TELUS’ Mike iDEN network will finally see a new BlackBerry soon. The BlackBerry Curve 8350i is the new addition to the iDEN BlackBerry lineup (joining the 7100i and 7520i). It will feature Wi-Fi, OS 4.6, Direct Connect (PTT) and a little more ruggid but similar design to the current Curve 8300 series. Unfortunantly for now this ninja doesn’t have an exact release but they are expecting it to come soon with tons of accessories to make it a more consumer friendly market.

So what do you think? Will TELUS introduce two BlackBerry smartphones (Storm and iDen Curve) in the month of December or will they wait until early next year??

Thanks, Frogger
