Telus BlackBerry Tour 9630 shows up on Best Buy site for $229/3YR

blackberry-tour-bestbuy-telus copy

I seem to remember something like this happening with the BlackBerry Storm previously. Best Buy’s Canadian site is now showing the Telus BlackBerry Tour for $229 with three year contract. It currently says that this product is only available in store, and no stores are showing them in stock. This might be a very good sign of things to come over to the next week or so. Check out BestBuy’s site if you’re curious. Be aware it might disappear though.

Thanks for the tip Tedward!

First official word of Telus BlackBerry Tour 9630 goes to VIP customers

telusemail

The first official word from Telus has arrived to VIP customers regarding the BlackBerry Tour launch. Anyone who is a part of Telus’ Platinum Perks program (high valued customers) have received an email telling them the Tour 9630 is coming soon. They also invite the client to find out more and get their device on July 15, 2009. Looks like Telus won’t be doing any pre-orders this time around. We also expect to hear from Bell within the next little bit on an official release date…

Telus lowers prices on Pearl, Curve and Storm! Making room for new models?

telus-june09-bb-prices

Luke just let me know that Telus has just dropped their prices on all current BlackBerry models including the Pearl, Curve and Storm. This prices take effect today (June 17, 2009) and must be combined with a voice and data plan (such as Smartphone Combo 45). It looks like Telus is getting ready to make room for some new BlackBerry models (Tour anyone??) by adjusting the no contract prices on the BlackBerry Pearl 8130 and Curve 8330, plus lowering the three year contract price on the Storm 9530.

  • BlackBerry Pearl 8130 $0 with 3-year, $329.99 no contract (was $499)
  • BlackBerry Curve 8330 $49 with 3-year, $449 no contract (was $549)
  • BlackBerry Storm is now $149 with 3-year term from $249

So go get them Canada and Enjoy! For more details visit telusmobility.com.

Rumored Telus BlackBerry Tour 9630 Pricing & Launch Date… Boo!

launcdate

We just received a tip from HowardForums member RileyFreeman who seems to come across an internal Telus presentation. Apparently the BlackBerry Tour 9630 will be launching on Telus July 15th. If this presentation is right then Telus will be launching the 9630 for $249 with 3-year contract, $649 with no contract (OUCH!). Unfortunately if this is true then we will have just under one month until launch. Keep checking in we’re trying to confirm this more…

Telus branded BlackBerry Tour 9630 in the wild!

telus9630-1

You didn’t really think the Telus fanboys were going to let Bell steal the 9630 spotlight did you? Well a member at both HowardForums and CrackBerry has posted what appears to be the first live pictures of a branded BlackBerry Tour 9630 in the wild. If Telus branded 9630’s are really out in the wild does this mean a launch is coming VERY soon? The latest rumors floating around say that Telus could launch the Tour as soon as June 22nd. Stay tuned for more details once we confirm that.

Update: Looks like our friends over at CrackBerry had the pictures posted in their forums as well.

Enjoy!

Beyond160 v 1.0, Brings CDMA devices more than 160 letters per text!

storm-bey160-screenshot_1

GSM carriers never have an issue allowing a BlackBerry to send long texts. If it’s long, it will automatically break it into 160 character chunks. The term for this is Extended/Multipart SMS. It might break it into six messages, but you only pay for one. This is not supported on CDMA BlackBerry models such as the BlackBerry Storm, Curve 8330, etc. So this includes: Alltel, Bell, Sprint, Telus, and Verizon Wireless.

For those of us who love long texts but have a CDMA carrier, Cannon Soft has announced their solution for you. It is called Beyond160, v1.0.0. The application will automatically break up the texts into 160 character messages, and it will send them in order through the normal sms outbox with delivery confirmation. The application does have a fourteen day trial period. Be aware that although GSM carriers will charge as one text, CDMA carriers will charge per message. This means if you do not have an unlimited text plan, and the message is broken into three messages, you will be charged for three messages. So if you find yourself typing long messages, trying them to shorten them, don’t fret, just download Beyond160 today.

Beyond160 v1.0.0, by Cannon Soft can be downloaded from here.
