Rogers releases Bold OS 4.6.0.162
If you own a Rogers BlackBerry Bold then you might want to read this. Rogers and RIM have officially release a new OS upgrade for the Bold (4.6.0.162) which will hopefully fix a few issues such as drop calls, memory leaks, battery life, etc.

The Rogers Bold ships with OS 4.6.0.125 so this is quite the upgrade. You can download the operating system directly from RIM’s website here then install the package and open up Desktop Manager it should update from there. Make sure you do a backup before installing the software (in case for some reason you loose everything).

Rogers BlackBerry Bold drops to $299!
The BlackBerry Bold isn’t out in the United States yet, however Rogers Wireless has dropped their Bold price by $100 dollars today making it $299.99 with three year contract. Apparently Rogers hasn’t been selling nearly as many Bold’s as they would like to be (I wonder why?) so with this little price drop maybe it will help? Is it required you have a $45 combo of voice and data. The price hasn’t been updated on Rogers.com just yet but it should happen later today.

Check out Rogers.com for more details… >>

Why is Rogers advertising the Pearl 8220 already?

Apparently people have been getting flyers that show the newly released BlackBerry Bold 9000 and the unreleased BlackBerry Pearl 8220 (Formally known as Kickstart). It’s a little weird that RIM would let Rogers advertise the Pearl 8220 as they haven’t even announced it yet. This could mean that its release will be coming this week at CTIA or sooner.

Pricing looks to be similar to the flyer that was leaked back in August by CrackBerry. It will ring in at $149.99 with three year contract.

Rogers to launch new Data Plans on Oct. 1st

As of October 1st Rogers Wireless will introduce new data plans to replace their crazy 6GB for $30 a month. A recent study by Rogers indicates that 95% of iPhone 3G users use less than 500MB of data every month. Becuase of this Rogers will introduce new data plans as follows:

Also all of these new plans include tethering, Clients will be notified by SMS when they have used all of their available data, Overages are now capped at $100/month so no one will get any crazy phone bills.

Seems Rogers won’t get RIM’s first BlackBerry flip phone, the BlackBerry Kickstart Pearl 8220 for the once thought price of $50 with contract. The Pearl 8220 will be launching for $149.99 with three year contract. This pricing becomes more inline with their BlackBerry Curve 8310. So whos all up for getting a Pearl 8220??
