fido_logo

Looks like the rumors about Fido carrying the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 has been confirmed more by the BerryReview team. It seems Fido will start selling BlackBerry with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) only service. Pricing for the old school Pearl 8100 starts at $25 with three year term and ends at $400 with no contract/month to month. A couple things to point out Fido will not be offering BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) support but they will allow tethering with their data plans. Fido will not officially support any other BlackBerry models, however if you were to pick up an unlocked Berry you would be able to use it!

Fido to start BlackBerry staff training next week… So BlackBerry coming soon!

fido_logo

The folks over at BGR are reporting that Fido employees will start BlackBerry sales training as early as next week.  This is great news for Fido customers but now heres the bad part. Rumor has it Fido will be launching the Pearl 8100 (yes 8100 not 8110 or 8120) then followed by several other models such as Pearl Flip and Curve 8900 down the road. We aren;t too sure why Fido is launching the classic Pearl 8100… Maybe it’s to bring BlackBerry at a low cost with a two year term? or BGR seems to think they might just be using up what is left of Rogers’ Pearl 8100 stock. Who knows. Regardless Fido will be offering BlackBerry within the next month or so.

News has broken that Rogers Wireless will be picking up two new BlackBerry smartphones in early 2009. First one will be 3G/Wi-Fi packing version of the BlackBerry Storm. This 3G version of the Storm will be modeled the 9520 and should see a price point of $199 with three year term. This will make it interesting for both Bell and TELUS who are currently offering it for $249 with three year term. Rogers will also be introducing the 3G BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8200 with a secondary camera for video calling along with GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G support. No pricing is known for that model just yet. So anyways for now this is leaked information for now. Nothing confirmed officially by Rogers. Stay tuned!!
