We’ve been hearing for a while that Fido will be releasing the entry level BlackBerry Curve 8520. The guys over at MobileSyrup have been doing some poking around trying to find it, and it looks like they did. If you look hard enough on Best Buy Canada’s website you will find a picture of the Fido branded BlackBerry Curve 8520. The Curve 8520 is expected to replace Fido’s aging Pearl 8100 smartphone, which they launched with their BlackBerry service well over a year ago. Pricing is expected to run about $50 with three year contract (on voice and data plan) or $400 without. The latest rumors indicate we might see the Curve 8520 hit Fido around February 22nd, but Fido is still yet to say anything. Stay tuned we will update you when we find out more…

This would be a great step for Fido to go, as the Curve 8520 offers great affordability and solid performance. No word on pricing or an exact release date (besides Q1) at this time. Stay tuned…

Any Fido users out there extremely excited for a new BlackBerry? I figured by this point that most users would have purchased an unlocked one.

Looks like Rogers is finally ready to let the leash loose on Fido. In a leaked presentation that shows Fido’s upcoming handsets the ole faithful BlackBerry Curve 8320 was shown. The 8320 should show up for about $50 with three year contract (with voice and data plan). It’s expected to launch on or around July 13th. This means Fido will be getting a semi-newer BlackBerry to replace their dead before it even launched Pearl 8100. Oh and in case there is any iPhone fans here apparently Fido will be getting a smaller 4GB iPhone (Nano?) as well.

Oh by the way Fido… What happened to launching the Pearl Flip 8220?

The best news to come out of this is that Fido will be allowing unlocked BlackBerrys on their network so this means you could use something a little better such as Bold, Curve and even a Pearl Flip.

Looks like the rumors about Fido carrying the BlackBerry Pearl 8100 has been confirmed more by the BerryReview team. It seems Fido will start selling BlackBerry with BIS (BlackBerry Internet Service) only service. Pricing for the old school Pearl 8100 starts at $25 with three year term and ends at $400 with no contract/month to month. A couple things to point out Fido will not be offering BES (BlackBerry Enterprise Server) support but they will allow tethering with their data plans. Fido will not officially support any other BlackBerry models, however if you were to pick up an unlocked Berry you would be able to use it!

The folks over at BGR are reporting that Fido employees will start BlackBerry sales training as early as next week. This is great news for Fido customers but now heres the bad part. Rumor has it Fido will be launching the Pearl 8100 (yes 8100 not 8110 or 8120) then followed by several other models such as Pearl Flip and Curve 8900 down the road. We aren;t too sure why Fido is launching the classic Pearl 8100… Maybe it’s to bring BlackBerry at a low cost with a two year term? or BGR seems to think they might just be using up what is left of Rogers’ Pearl 8100 stock. Who knows. Regardless Fido will be offering BlackBerry within the next month or so.
