BlackBerry Tour 9630 Promo Materials Leak from Bell

bell-tour1

Who’s excited for the BlackBerry 9630? Well if you are you might enjoy this. It appears that Bell is getting one step closer to a launch of the Tour 9630. New marketing materials have been leaked which show a bell branded BlackBerry Tour with a full spec list instead. We haven’t really learned anything new about the device and obviously Bell hasn’t given any real release dates. Bell won’t be the only ones jumping on the Tour, both Telus and Verizon will launch the 9630 within the next little bit.

With the leaking of this marketing material when do you think the 9630 will launch? June or July?

BlackBerry Tour 9630 shows up in Bell Inventory for $599

bell-9630-inventory

Great news for Canadians waiting to get their hands on the BlackBerry Tour 9630. Visual confirmation that Bell will in fact be releasing the Tour 9630 has arrived. New screenshots of Bell’s inventory system shows the Tour 9630 including a possible no contract price of $599.95. Unfortuantly this still leaves no official release date for the device but with any luck we will see it launch within the next month or two. Keep checking for more updates when they arrive!

Beyond160 v 1.0, Brings CDMA devices more than 160 letters per text!

storm-bey160-screenshot_1

GSM carriers never have an issue allowing a BlackBerry to send long texts. If it’s long, it will automatically break it into 160 character chunks. The term for this is Extended/Multipart SMS. It might break it into six messages, but you only pay for one. This is not supported on CDMA BlackBerry models such as the BlackBerry Storm, Curve 8330, etc. So this includes: Alltel, Bell, Sprint, Telus, and Verizon Wireless.

For those of us who love long texts but have a CDMA carrier, Cannon Soft has announced their solution for you. It is called Beyond160, v1.0.0. The application will automatically break up the texts into 160 character messages, and it will send them in order through the normal sms outbox with delivery confirmation. The application does have a fourteen day trial period. Be aware that although GSM carriers will charge as one text, CDMA carriers will charge per message. This means if you do not have an unlimited text plan, and the message is broken into three messages, you will be charged for three messages. So if you find yourself typing long messages, trying them to shorten them, don’t fret, just download Beyond160 today.

Beyond160 v1.0.0, by Cannon Soft can be downloaded from here.

BlackBerry Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.122 officially released by Bell!!

    bell-bbstorm

Awesome news for BlackBerry Storm owners! Bell has officially released one of the best Storm OS’ to date! If you connect your Storm to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager software and follow the instructions for an update you will now see the option to install OS 4.7.0.122. Reports from various users say that this verison OS could be one of the best ones seen yet. This sounds very promising for Storm owners (especially the ones running the Stock .76 OS). Anyway for now Bell has not placed this OS on their BlackBerry Download Site for everyone to download. Stay tuned for when that happens…

Any Bell Storm owners out there install this yet? If so let us know in the comments what you think…

Bell already offers OS update for BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230

    pearllflip-8230

Earlier today news broke that Bell was recalling some of the BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230 smartphones they sold for an unknown reason. Well more details are now in. Apparently Bell has already released a new OS for the 8230 that is just days old. Originally the units shipped with OS 4.6.1.162 however Bell will be sending texts to people with this software version instructing them to upgrade to the newer OS 4.6.1.182. We aren’t really sure what this upgrade fixes but it must be something important. Rumor has it that TELUS delayed the launch of their Pearl Flip by a few days to fix a “small issue” so this would make perfect sense now.

Anyone with a Bell 8230 notice issues with their device??

Bell running out of stock on BlackBerry Curve 8330 – raises price to $99.95

    bell-logo

First there was a stock shortage on the BlackBerry Storm, now there seems to be one on the Curve 8330. According to Mobile Syrup, Bell has doubled their three year contract price in order to save a little stock on the BlackBerry Curve 8330. They have told employees to offer the free Pearl 8130 before showing the Curve due to the stock issues. So for now if you really want a Bell Curve you will have to dish out $99.95 for that three year term.
