BlackBerry Bold 9700 (aka Onyx) Coming to AT&T Soon?

att-prelaunch-list

One of Boy Genius’ trusty ninjas has provided details about a couple upcoming devices for AT&T, one of them being the un-annonced BlackBerry 9700. Apparently this device could hit AT&T almost anytime, and is un-officially officially confirmed. Boy Genius doesn’t have a whole lot of details at this time, but its now believed the BlackBerry 9700 is in fact the Onyx, and should launch of Bold 9700. Details are still very sketchy right now, but we hope to get more really soon. So for now sit back and wait…

blackberry9990sm

An interesting photo popped up on CrackBerry this morning. It’s a photo of OS 5.7.0.151  on what appears to be the un-announced BlackBerry Storm 2. Some people seem to think of the BlackBerry 9990 is the new model for the un-announced BlackBerry Storm 2, which should be launching October/November. No one can seem to confirm if this OS in fact real, of if somone is having some photoshop fun. You might want to check out the full discussion on CrackBerry Forums for the full details…

What do you think… Photoshop or actual OS?

BlackBerry Onyx 9020 spotted in the Wild Sporting Leather Back!

Onyx_2

New pictures have been found online of the un-released BlackBerry Onyx 9020. The site FeedBerry is showing off the Onyx (with trackball, not trackpad) sporting a leather back similar to the BlackBerry Bold. Could this mean that RIM has decided to make the Onyx part of the Bold family? We don’t really have any new details on the Onyx, although its expected to be a slim 3G/Quadband GSM device with a 3.2 megapixel camera, large 480×360 resolution display, Wi-Fi, and GPS. We do expect the Onyx to launch sometime this year, however an official date is no where to be found. See the rest of the pictures at FeedBerry.

It seems as though things are taking a step in the right direction for those of you that are patiently or not waiting for the release of the Storm 2. A picture of Verizon’s inventory screen has surfaced that shows a dummy or as some of you may refer to it as a display phone is in the carriers system. One can only hope that this means the actual phone itself is soon to follow.

BlackBerry Onyx in the wild with a Trackpad

onyx-with-trackpad-lrg

When the BlackBerry Onyx first showed its face on the internet, it was orginally sporting RIM’s classic trackball. It was rumored that RIM was thinking about putting the new optical trackpad into this device code-named “Onyx” and it seems that they did. New pictures have surfaced online showing the Onyx’s new touchpad and it looks hot! This means the Onyx will be packing a sexy new compact design with 3.2 megapixel camera, 3G radio, Wi-Fi and GPS all in one. Still no word on when it will be officially released, but stay tuned.

BlackBerry Onyx 9020 to sport Optical Trackpad!

onyxtrackpad

So this week Kevin from CrackBerry has confirmed that the BlackBerry Onyx (see above on left) will be modeled “9020″ upon its release. In case you forget the Onyx (9020) is a 3G BlackBerry featuring GSM/EDGE/UMTS, with a 480×360 high resolution display, 256MB of on-board memory, 3.2 megapixel camera with auto focus and flash, GPS and Wi-Fi. Anyway Kevin has confirmed that the BlackBerry 9020 will actually feature an Optical trackpad like the BlackBerry Gemini 8520 (seen on right). Final production models of the Onyx will in fact sport this new trackpad, rather than trackball like we’ve seen on prototype models. Anyway that’s just a tad bit of Onyx news for now. Stay tuned for more when it arrives…

The New BlackBerry Messenger Looks Sexy and Brings Tons of Hot Features!!

new messegner on onyx

Who else but Boy Genius got his hands-on what looks to be the new BlackBerry Messenger application. Not only that but BG got his hands-on the hot and sexy BlackBerry Onyx to demo it out. This is the first we’ve seen of the new messenger client which has tons of hot new features. Not only does the new Messenger have a new look but it supports GPS integration similar to Google Latitude to notify you when friends are close, avatar icons, and home screen icons. Here’s a complete list of the new features:

  • Avatar support — set your own avatar using the Camera or saved photo on your device (this is displayed locally as well as shown next to your Messenger name on your friend’s buddy list)
  • GPS location integration — you can now set permissions so friends can always see your location, have to request it each time, or never can see it
  • Proximity sensor — we’re guessing this will let you know if you’re within a certain distance of friends (pending, of course, you’re both set to share locations freely with each other)
  • Set conversation subjects — this will allow you to organize your convos on the main Messenger screen and label them with subjects to keep track of all your conversations
  • Homescreen support — you can pin/sticky actual Messenger contacts directly to the homescreen for easy access!

Big props to Boy Genius for getting his hands on this and the Onyx!
