OS Alert: BlackBerry Storm 9530 OS 4.7.0.109 leaked…

Just a few days after OS 4.7.0.109 was leaked for the Storm 9500 it has now become available for the 9530. This new OS is an actual RIM beta copy and not a Hybrid (mix of 9500 software for the 9530). As always with any new beta OS we warn you to do a backup before installing and only install this if you know what your doing.

It’s Sunday and what better to do than upgrade your BlackBerry Storm 9500 OS! A new version OS 4.7.0.109 has been leaked onto the interent. This version is ONLY for the European model (BlackBerry Storm 9500). Please keep in mind this isn’t an official OS it has simply been leaked by someone at RIM or partners. It’s not recommended that you install it unless you have previous experience with beta OS. If you are feeling adventurous feel free to install this OS and test it out.+

Elecite introduces first BlackBerry Storm Premium Themes!!

Our friends over at Elecite have just introduced their first two new themes for the BlackBerry Storm! They are starting off with the premium iBerry 3G theme which has been completely redesigned for the Storm (see video below). Elecite also introduced Droid, a premium theme designed for the Storm to look a like Google’s Android OS. Both themes can be purchased for $6.99 each over at Elecite.com. Google Maps updated to 3.0.2 – Brings VZW Storm GPS Support

Great news has arrived for Verizon BlackBerry Storm users. Previously Verizon customers would not be able to use both the Storm’s GPS with Google’s Maps application. Well today Google released new version 3.0.2 and it brought GPS capabilities for everyone with a Storm. Bad news is it seems that Google has ONLY allowed it to work on the BlackBerry Storm and no other devices such as Pearl 8130 or Curve 8330. You can download it on your device by pointing the browser to http://m.google.com/maps.

Do you remember Poynt? We showed you this cool app for the BlackBerry Storm before it was released to the public, and now its finally here! As of today you can download Poynt for the BlackBerry Storm free of charge OTA (Over the Air) by directly your browser to http://m.mypoynt.com. Not familiar with Poynt? Well it’s an application that allows you to find local businesses, movie listings, etc. surrounding your GPS location. You can also find out what movies are playing at theaters around you and watch previews right from Poynt.

Our friend Ronen from BerryReview has just had a tipster leaked out Plazmic 4.7 for the BlackBerry Storm and Curve 8900. This will allow you to design your own BlackBerry themes compatible with the pair of devices. We aren’t sure what’s taking RIM so long to launch the official version, but we hope it comes soon because some addicts are getting sick of the default themes :) Personally I would like to have an Executive Theme for my Storm… So if you create a good Storm or Curve 8900 let us know!
