BlackBerry Curve World Edition? Pearl World Edition?

The Genius has got more details about RIM's plans for the next World Edition devices. According to Boy Genius he says that RIM will in fact create a BlackBerry Curve World Edition and a CDMA/GSM World Edition Pearl 8130. With Verizon, Sprint, Telus and Bell feeling the hurt on from GSM getting all of the latest BlackBerry devices we can only imagine the squeeze the CDMA carriers are putting on RIM. 

He also posted a list of how the BlackBerry 8000 series are modeled:  

81xx: SureType consumer device; camera-enabled
83xx: QWERTY consumer device; camera-enabled
88xx: QWERTY business device; no camera, GPS-enabled
xx00: GSM device
xx10: GSM device; step-sibling upgrade of xx00 (Pearl only)
xx20: GSM+Wi-Fi device
xx30: CDMA/EVDO+GSM device

Anyways stay tuned for more CDMA BlackBerry information as it arises.

More CDMA Pearl 2 rumors…

Some more details have arrived about the rumored BlackBerry Pearl 2. The CDMA model which will show up sometime Q4 2007 will feature:

  • 2.0 megapixel camera
  • Extremely thing design
  • EV-DO Rev. A capable
  • Verizon first at launch followed by Sprint

RIM’s getting ready for the new Pearl series

Going along with Boy Genius' predictions about the new Pearl series. We have received a tip from a reliable source about three new BlackBerry Pearl's coming soon. 

  • BlackBerry 8110: This will be the new upgrade to the Pearl (might be known as Pearl 2). It will be a Quadband GSM device with an upgraded camera (2 megapixels) and possibly even GPS.
  • BlackBerry 8120: This will be a GSM Pearl featuring Wi-Fi for wireless internet connectivity.
  • BlackBerry 8130: Ready for this one? Finally a CDMA variant of the Pearl. Not really sure what it will sport yet camera wise or any other features for that matter as of yet.

Tip: Get the latest BlackBerry Pearl firmware

Do you have a BlackBerry Pearl containing software 4.2.0.54/4.2.0.64 or older? If so your Pearl may have a few minor problems that are fixable with a simple software upgrade from RIM. The new software version fixes the following issues:

  • Memory leak issue
  • Disappearing emails
  • Call logs that are being erased
  • Delay in answering phone call
  • Slow media access time
  • Slow reset time

Next Generation Pearl to be BlackBerry 8120

Boy Genius has reported today that RIM is getting ready for a next generation BlackBerry Pearl this September. They claim the BlackBerry 8120 will come in four colours (black, red, titanium, blue, and gold). It’s said to be sport a 2 megapixel camera, GPS and Wi-Fi. It is expected that both T-Mobile in the states and Rogers Wireless in Canada will launch these new devices in September.

Rogers Wireless has the Red Pearl?

Did we miss something? NO official announcement came out from either Rogers or RIM that we could find yet Rogers Wireless now is offering the Red Pearl. It’s the same price at $249 with 3 year contract. With all the news about the 8300 and 8830 over the past few weeks maybe RIM forgot to tell us about the Red Pearl coming to Canada? Who knows.

BlackBerry 9100 and 9900 Series Rumors

Rumors are floating around of RIM’s next generation BlackBerry series the 9900. While the BlackBerry 9900 series isn’t due out until late 2007 or early 2008 some early specs have arrived.

  • High Resoltuion 324×288 display
  • BlackBerry OS 5.0
  • Size will remain close to 8700/8800 series

Boy Genius who usually is always close to his predictions is saying that they will also be launching a BlackBerry 9100 series which will reshape the wireless world… Maybe a next generation Pearl? As always expect leaks soon.
