Rogers’ BlackBerry Pearl 8220 for $149, not $50

Seems Rogers won’t get RIM’s first BlackBerry flip phone, the BlackBerry Kickstart Pearl 8220 for the once thought price of $50 with contract. The Pearl 8220 will be launching for $149.99 with three year contract. This pricing becomes more inline with their BlackBerry Curve 8310. So whos all up for getting a Pearl 8220?? Check out the pictures:

More screenshots of Kickstart/Pearl 8220 for T-Mobile

I know these images aren’t really anything new, but more screenshots have appeared online of a T-Mobile branded BlackBerry Kickstart Pearl 8220. Looks like RIM might even be renaming the Kickstart for T-Mobile to become part of the Pearl series as well. Personally I think RIM should have marketed it as the Pearl Flip or something to that effect. Anyways enjoy the screenshots…

Expansys seems to love outing RIM’s unreleased handsets lately. Just a few weeks ago they were showing the BlackBerry Thunder as coming soon. The Kickstart 8210 of course will be the GPS verison and 8220 will be the Wi-Fi version.

Head on over to Expansys for details…

P.S. RIM announce this damn phone already!!!

Rogers accidentally lists BlackBerry 8220…

Rogers Pearl 8220 gaming site

Rogers Pearl 8220 gaming site

So Rogers has accidently listed the BlackBerry Pearl 8220 (aka Kickstart) on their gaming downloads page. This could mean one of two things either Rogers will be launching the Pearl 8220 within the week or two or that they simply made an error and listed it way too early. Our bet goes along with previous reports that you will see the Pearl 8220 instores for September 1st or so.

T-Mobile’s Roadmap shows 8 new BlackBerry’s
Well technically not eight NEW models but three new Pearl color variants, BlackBerry Kickstart 8220 and the Javelin. The three new Pearl 8120 colors include Tahitian Green, Indigo and Light Blue to go along with their three other Pearl colors. Their BlackBerry Kickstart or Pearl 8220 will launch around late September maybe October in several color options. Last but not least the Blackberry Javelin, which we have talked about before will launch near the end of the year. The Javelin will be a lighter, smaller version of the Curve with a higher resolution display.

Unfortunately there is no news on the BlackBerry Bold coming to T-Mobile anytime soon, but with the October 1st launch of their 3G network coming you may see it early 2009.

Remember the BlackBerry Kickstart? You know the first flip phone BlackBerry that we’ve all seen so much of? Well BBCool got some new details on Rogers and the BlackBerry 8220 launching. Apparently the Kickstart has been rebranded to part of the Pearl series. Boy Genius also reported today that Rogers will be lauching the Kickstart Pearl 8220 sometime during Q3 of this year.

Apparently Rogers will also be renaming their Wi-Fi UMA service to “Talk Spot” and of course the Kickstart/Pearl 8220 will be featuring it. Pricing isn’t exactly known yet but its expected to be at a “low” price point.
