First shots of BlackBerry Niagara 9630 – CDMA Bold/Curve 8900 Crossover!

blackberryniagara9630b

CrackBerry has shown us the first live pictures of the heavely rumored BlackBerry Niagara. In case you don’t know what “Niagara” is it’s going to be the CDMA Bold/Curve combonation featuring a CDMA/EVDO Rev. A Radio with 3.2 megapixel camera, GPS and of course a full QWERTY keyboard. Apparently RIM might have cut plans to include Wi-Fi in this bad boy. The Niagara looks to be a mix of both the BlackBerry Bold and Curve 8900 “Javelin” to swing a bit of both worlds in there.

Two questions: Will RIM call this the Bold 9630? and who wants one even without Wi-Fi?

BlackBerry Curve 8900 “Javelin” gets toren apart

blackberry_javelin_full

The guys at PhoneWreck sure are brave! Previously we saw them rip apart a Bold and Storm now it’s the BlackBerry Curve 8900. The team takes this 3G-less Curve apart piece by piece and show detailed pictures of the body and internal hardware. You can read their conclusion about the device below. I can tell you overall they gave it a 9/10 trackballs rating :) If you ever wondered what your Javelin looks like inside check out their review at PhoneWreck.com >

Here is their conclusion on the Curve 8900:

The Javelin doesn’t really have too many gripes rather than the flimsy battery cover and the lack of 3G.  We didn’t include the latter, because we understood RIM’s position in marketing this as an update to the Curve — because it is a Curve.  And in fact, the improvements to the browser make the lack of 3G much more bearable.  The tight, new form factor really has us drooling though.  It’s a great device to use, and definitely tops our list of favorites for the moment.  The Javelin presents a good alternative to the faux-leather backed bigger brother, and we’re very satisfied.  Enough chit-chat though, let’s get to the goods!

Looks like Lance Armstrong is sporting the new BlackBerry Curve 8900 instead of his usual Bold. At first glance you would almost think its the BlackBerry Storm but after reading online many seem to think its the Curve 8900. Anyways good to see that he switches up his devices every once in a while…
