If your a BlackBerry Bold user, I’m sure you want to best protection for your baby. Our friends at OtterBox have released the OtterBox Defender case for the BlackBerry Bold. The case is made up of three layers of solid protection. The first layer is a thin thermal-formed plastic wrap which protects your screen and keyboard from dust, dirt and mist. Overall I’m usually pretty impressed with OtterBox’s products. They never seem to fail for those who are looking for maximum protection. The Bold Defender series case is a great fit and keeps the phone well protected. I recommend picking one up if your looking for that something extra. Although the price tag is a little higher than most cases the life time warranty and great quality more than make up for it.

AT&T’s BlackBerry Bold 9000 is now listed on Best Buy’s website. You can purchase it with no contract for $659.99 USD. At the moment they are currently backordered and expected to ship within one to two weeks. So you can either order one now or just wait for AT&T to launch it officially on November 4th and pick one up then.

RIM and AT&T held a BlackBerry launch event in San Francisco last night. Looks like they actually had AT&T branded BlackBerry Bold’s on hand to giveaway there last night! If you saw last week the held a party in New York and didn’t give any Bold’s out just coupons for a free one. Now don’t get me wrong a free Bold is great but it would have been better if they got it that night. Anyways the folks over at BBNews got a hold of some party shots.

We missed this one over the weekend. Boy Genius has released Rogers’ 2009 Blackberry lineup! Its filled with one new device every quarter and it will all start off with the BlackBerry Curve 8900 (formally known as Javelin) in Q1 then followed by a BlackBerry Storm varriant in Q2, BlackBerry “Magnum” (Curve 8900 with 3G) for Q3 and last but not least the BlackBerry Pluto (Bold-like device with touchscreen) for Q4 of 2009. Keep in mind they most likely won’t be getting the internal names and call the devices Magnum and Pluto. Also we should expect to see several new devices at WES (Wireless Enterprise Symposium) 2009 :-).

As you may have read AT&T held a launch party in New York City the other night and basically didn’t have any Bold’s on hand to actually give out. Instead they gave everyone a I.O.U card to get a Bold at a later date. Anyways Boy Genius seems to have obtained an email stating the latest release date for RIM’s new 3G BlackBerry Bold 9000. It seems the Bold should arrive on October 27th and that the pricing is still unknown.

Apparently the issue that was holding the Bold back from releasing on AT&T has been fixed up and its all good to go! Stay tuned.

[Boy Genius Report]

A recent report done by research firm iSuppli shows that it costs RIM $169.41 to build each BlackBerry Bold. That’s quite a nice markup considering it costs $649.99 CAD with no contract from Rogers. The report says that materials for the Bold cost $158.16 and assembly and testing cost $11.25 bringing the total to $169.41. Another interesting fact is that the BlackBerry Curve only costs RIM $103.00 in materials. Gee I wonder how much the Pearl costs?
