When will MSN, AIM and ICQ go live?

So now that the 8830 has been announced by RIM and with the upcoming launch on May 14th for Verizon when will see the MSN, AIM and ICQ IM clients launched officially?

You may have seen the posts online with the links to download the clients however they don’t seem to work until your carrier updates the service books. We are hoping to see an announcement from RIM within the next couple of weeks about the clients going live.

Research in Motion has announced today, they will opening up their software platform allowing users with new Windows Mobile 6 powered smartphones to emulate their BlackBerry OS on their device.

Extending BlackBerry applications to a broader range of devices is an important element of RIM’s strategy to provide an open platform that supports industry standards and addresses the various needs of our customers and partners,” said Mike Lazaridis, President and Co-CEO at Research In Motion. “This new software will provide a range of important benefits, including easier support of Windows Mobile-based devices within BlackBerry Enterprise Server environments, a consistent user interface for BlackBerry applications across various devices, and the ability to run third-party applications developed for the BlackBerry platform.”
