Meet the OtterBox 1933 case for the BlackBerry 8800 series. I’ve been testing out the OtterBox on my 8830 for just over a week now and so far I’m fairly impressed with it. The OtterBox gives you protection from bumps, scratches, drop and light wet conditions such as rain. It comes with a three layer protection first the clear vinyl sheet to cover the screen, keyboard, front and back of the device, followed by the hard plastic shell then the rubber mitt to go over the shell.

The OtterBox 1933 case for the 8800 series is available in both all Black or Black/Yellow combo. They also offer OtterBox cases for several other models such as BlackBerry 7200 series and 8700 series as well other brands such as Palm Treo. Keep in mind these cases aren’t exactly what you call cheap (ranging from $49.95-99.95 USD) they do offer the most protection for your device.

The OtterBox includes a nice plastic holster similar to what the old BlackBerry’s came with (like the 8700/7200 series). The holster includes the magnet to allow your device to go into a suspend mode.

Here’s how the OtterBox 1933’s layers work:

• Layer 1: Slide on the thermal formed protective clear membrane to safeguard screen and keyboard against scratching as well as dust and dirt* (layer optional depending on the level of ruggedization desired)
• Layer 2: Snap together the hi-impact polycarbonate shell
• Layer 3: Wrap the silicone skin over the device to absorb bump and shock (silicone includes innovative retaining features to hold it in place)
