I know there are several of us who love the gps check in app foursquare. It’s a fun social app that can even get you specials from local places. foursquare updated to v5.5 this Halloween and hopefully there’s more treats in this trick or treat.

While no changelog was presented, there was in fact a brief summary for the update. Here’s the summary:

“Inspired by the possibility of making Foursquare available to as many people as possible, our BlackBerry team built a logged-out mobile version of Explore during a recent hackday. With today’s update, BlackBerry becomes the first place where you can download Foursquare and start searching for places immediately, before you’ve even signed up.

Looking for a new lunch spot? Search “lunch special,” “Thai”, or “spring rolls”. We’ll find the best places nearby, and show you photos, tips, hours, menus, and more.

Of course, Foursquare gets even more powerful once you start checking in. We can then customize Explore based on what you like and where you and your friends have been. Check in ten times, and we’ll come up with ten new places we know you’ll love.”

So it appears that now you don’t need to sign in and the latest feature is Explore. Check in or check it out and let us know what you think!
