Rumor: Vodafone in talks with RIM for takeover?

Let’s all take this with a grain of salt. Reuters is reporting that UK-based carrier, Vodafone is in talks with Research In Motion for a possible takeover. RIM’s stock have surged more than 14% after rumors were published about the takeover. While neither side is willing to comment on the news, we think it would be a really interesting step for Vodafone — Although I would prefer if RIM remained a fully Canadian owned company.     This is the third time RIM is benefitting out of rumors: first time the rumor was Google taking over (when Google acquired Motorola); second time it was when investor Icahn was putting money; third time with Vodafone taking over. All three rumors benefitted RIM by increasing the stock price. Not sure who is creating it, but RIM doesn’t deny any rumor when the stock price is increasing. However, if any rumor is affecting in a negative way to stock price then RIM immediately responds.
