BlackBerry PlayBook OS Update to v1.0.7.2942 Now With Differential Updates!

The PlayBook OS updated this morning, that was even sooner than I had anticipated to see it. You must have v1.0.7.2670 installed to be able to install the latest update. Inside BlackBerry has the changelog and details on what we can expect from this latest update for our BlackBerry PlayBooks.

Inside BlackBerry explains that the differential updates allows you to only update the sections of the OS that need updating. This boils down to smaller updates in file size and faster updates for us. Especially with the new features coming to the BlackBerry PlayBook later this year. Along with the differential updates, the following features were also updated:

  • Improved Wi-Fi® connectivity to WEP networks
  • Faster pairing between a BlackBerry smartphone and BlackBerry PlayBook tablet via the BlackBerry® Bridge™ app, and faster attachment opening via BlackBerry Bridge.
To update your BlackBerry PlayBook, you can do it over the air (ota) and new BlackBerry PlayBooks will be updated during the BlackBerry PlayBook setup. If you have your BlackBerry PlayBook, update it now. If you purchasing one now or soon, don’t worry, you’ll still receive the update.
