Update: Facebook for BlackBerry for the BlackBerry and the BlackBerry PlayBook v2.0 Today!

Inside BlackBerry, the Official BlackBerry Blog, gave us the great news of not one just our BlackBerry devices receiving the v2.0 but the PlayBook as well. Some of us were able to check out via the BlackBerry Beta Zone, and good things come to those who wait. Check it out!

We knew about the Facebook for BlackBerry and heard the rumor of the latest update being released publicly through the BlackBerry App World, but the BlackBerry PlayBook was a very welcome surprise. The announcement states that the updates will be coming through sometime in the next 24 hours. I couldn’t find the Facebook for BlackBerry update yet in BlackBerry App World, but if you’re a member of the BlackBerry Beta Zone and participated in the Facebook for BlackBerry beta, you can grab the update there. You can check out the videos that Inside BlackBerry posted for the Facebook for BlackBerry and Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook to see the apps on the devices in action.

  • Facebook Chat!
  • Improved News Feeds
  • Enhanced Profiles
  • Core integration with your BlackBerry smartphone including BBM

What’s new in the Facebook for BlackBerry PlayBook 2.0?

  • Facebook Places – Users choose to share where they are, what they are doing and who they are with – with Facebook friends. Get directions to and from a Facebook Places by clicking on the map image, which will seamlessly launch the Bing! Maps on the BlackBerry Playbook.
  • Facebook Events – View events and birthdays and receive notifications of new invitations. View event details like the time, place, guest list and more. Users can even RSVP and write on the event’s Wall.
  • View ‘Likes’ – See the names of the friends that ‘liked’ a user’s post. Users will also be able to tap their friends’ names to launch directly to their profiles.
  • Privacy control on status updates – Control who can see each update users share. Simply click the lock icon in the lower-right corner of the status publisher to select who to make the status update visible to before posting it.
You can grab the updates as they become available free from the BlackBerry App World. I suppose BlackBerry must have thought that if two heads are better than one, then two Faces would be too!
