RIM Gives A Deeper Insight Into Their Expanded App Ecosystem For The PlayBook

April 8, 2011 | By | 1 Comment

The Inside BlackBerry Blog, RIM’s Official BlackBerry Blog, has an article explaining their expanded app ecosystem and how it benefits both customers and developers. With the announcement of the “application players” that will be available in BlackBerry App World in the summer with a player for Android Apps followed by a player for Java Development Environment apps.

The Playbook is already enticing with the QNX OS, packed with Adobe® Flash® and Adobe® AIR®, HTML5 and JavaScript® developers able to create for the Playbook, but including the Android developers as well. This is RIM’s commitment to the consumer with providing choices.

For developers, it’s giving them the tools to create and without limitation. With BlackBerry Webworks, which offers leading HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript support; support for the frameworks: Sencha, PhoneGap, jQuery and Dojo; support for Adobe® (Flash® and AIR®); as well as support for native C/C++ development. That’s a lot and it’s all for one tablet.

From my perspective, it’s exciting. It’s giving you the ability to do so much with one tablet because not everyone is the same. The world is filled with diversity, why shouldn’t your device be a reflection of it? I’m excited and counting down the days.
