Are you having issues getting your BlackBerry Bridge and smartphone to connect? You’re not alone. A ton of people (but not everyone) are experiencing issues getting their PlayBook to pair with their BlackBerry smartphone. Myself I’m using a BlackBerry Torch 9800 and I was only ever able to use my PlayBook bridged once for a few hours, until a battery pull. Then it would no longer connect, when I deleted the Bridge and went to repair the two devices, I would get “connection denied” error (seen above). Well I have some good news to report. RIM did recently release a KB Article (see here) which details instructions on how to fix this issue (well more of a work around), however this only worked for some people. Everyone else (such as myself) were still out in the cold. However after speaking with nearly every possible consumer BlackBerry technical support team possible, and confirming I’m not using an AT&T device, they got me some sort of an answer.
Apparently RIM will be releasing another PlayBook OS update, as well an update to the BlackBerry Bridge app, that will fix this issue. The update is expected to launch later this week or over this weekend. Sadly they couldn’t tell me what version will actually be pushed to our devices. So now all we can do is sit back and wait. For now I will be taking this with a grain of salt but if true, I will be sure to post up when the update is available and report back to see if my Bridge works. Stay tuned!
