RIM and 7digital team up for Music Store on BlackBerry PlayBook at Launch

RIM sent out a press release early this morning to let everyone about their latest partnership with 7digital. The partnership with 7digital will a pre-installed music store on the BlackBerry PlayBook for the USA and Canada. 7digital currently has a music catalog of over 13 million MP3’s and the PlayBook will get access to them for a fee. For example the latest tracks seem to run you about $1.29 CDN and albums range in prices from $6.99 CAD and up. This is huge for the PlayBook! But for now the app will only be available for residents in the United States and Canada, with an international roll out coming later in the year. Check out the press release below for more details…

The 7digital Music Store will give BlackBerry PlayBook users access to 7digital’s catalogue of over 13 million high quality (320kbps) MP3s. BlackBerry PlayBook users will be able to search for tracks, albums and artists and preview tracks before making a purchase. Users can also discover new music through 7digital’s recommendation technology. Prices for BlackBerry PlayBook users will match the prices on 7digital.com, with individual tracks and albums priced in a customer’s local currency.
