Facebook for BlackBerry Version 2.0 with Chat now in Limited Beta

Facebook has played a huge role in the social networking world. Until now BlackBerry smartphones were always a little behind in the times, when compared to other devices like iPhone and Android. But good news rolled out today from RIM with the announcement that they have opened a limited beta for the new Facebook for BlackBerry version 2.0. The new version brings the much wanted Facebook Chat, as well a slightly updated UI and all of the features below:

  • “Always On” Facebook Chat Notifications
  • Redesigned Navigation Grid
  • New Notifications Bar
  • Improved News Feed Scrolling
  • Enhanced Profiles
  • Added Publisher Functionality
  • Updated User Interface

As of now, Facebook 2.0 is only available for BlackBerry smartphones running OS 6.0, however RIM does plan to offer it on all devices running OS 4.5 and higher in the future. If you haven’t already applied for the limited beta you should visit the BlackBerry Beta Zone now.
