BlackBerry Podcast App To Be Preloaded on PlayBook

Following RIM’s announcement with 7digital regarding their online music store for the BlackBerry PlayBook, RIM also let us know that their BlackBerry Podcast app will be coming preloaded on the PlayBook tablet. With the PlayBook podcast app users will be able to browse 19 categories of podcasts, including sports, entertainment, business, and more.

Other key features include:

  • Episode Preview – Preview Audio and Video Podcast episodes before they are downloaded
  • High Fidelity Viewing – Video podcasts will be delivered in their native resolution (up to 1080p), allowing full realization of the BlackBerry PlayBook’s high fidelity 7-inch 1024×600 screen
  • Delivery – Subscriptions will update when the application is open – then just click to listen or watch the latest podcasts
  • Preferences – Users can control their download preferences – from number of episodes, to retain, to explicit content filters
