BlackBerry Messenger (BBM) Heading to Android and even iOS

New rumors are floating around that RIM is already working on bringing their popular BBM instant messaging to other platforms, like Android and Apple iOS. BGR is reporting that RIM is already hard at work on an Android version of BBM, which would be huge for RIM. This would allow pretty any smartphone owner to communicate with other smartphone owners, without actually having to have a BlackBerry device. It’s something that many others have tried before (some even failed) but maybe, just maybe, RIM could pull this off. The tipsters at BGR indicate that the BBM found on other platforms will be a stripped down model, that might even cost per month or yearly. BGR’s tipsters say the Android version of BBM could even launch this year. Stay tuned for more details when they arrive.

Personally, I wish RIM would just come out with a desktop version of BBM already, as well a universal PIN number that one could sign in and out of, this is something I talked about years ago.
